Re: Night Crew Check In

  • LO has been asleep for a few hours now.  I should have gone to bed, because I'm super tired, but it was early and I wasn't ready to go to bed for the night.  So now I'm gonna wait for her to wake up so I can feed her, and hopefully she'll go right back to sleep.

My day was okay, but I am having an emotional day when it comes to breastfeeding.  Things have been getting better, but it feels like I'm having supply issues.  It may just be that LO is getting better at BF and eating more.  I just have felt all day like my body is failing my baby.  I had planned on having a natural, vaginal birth, and then due to low fluids, and positioning, I had a C-Section, without ever going into labor, and now my body might not be supplying the milk LO needs.  I know I'm being dramatic, but I just have felt crappy about it all day.  I'm going to my breastfeeding group tomorrow, so I can feed and weigh her and see how much she's actually getting, which will make me feel better.

  • I'm with @kwrecks.. It's been a tough day on the BF front,, wishing I had a breastfeeding group! I may need to dig deeper..

I've had a headache every day since Wednesday .. I'm pretty positive it's from lack of sleep so not much I can do About it.

Bedtime feeding almost done and then praying for a 4 hr stretch..

  • Had a great day! DH took LO ALL DAY so I could relax. I sat out on the deck and drank wine (5 glasses....lush). He got her fed, bathed and in bed early and we both went to bed at 9:30....and now I can't sleep! :(
LO is in the bassinet right next to my side of the bed grunting and squirming so freak in loud in her sleep its keeping me awake.
  • @NikkiD552 check out the hospitals near you.  My group is through the hospital.  It's super laid back, you go in, weigh your baby, feed them (and the lactation consultant will help with any questions you have) and then weigh them again to see how much they are getting.  Also, check out the Le Leche League, I think there are groups almost everywhere.

    Stay strong @LAMuehlen!

DD is asleep in her RnP for the second night. Last night she did amazing (6 hours then another 3) but I am trying to have low expectations.

  • LO should be up for her last feeding in about an hour. She has been awake basically all day, only a few 20-30 minute naps, and only on either H or myself. I assume it's because she slept 8 1/2 hours last night.
I've been getting horrible migraines, thank goodness I still have some of my meds from the hospital.
It's storming like crazy here tonight, it's kind of nice, but I'm terrified our electricity might go out, and my freezer stash might go bad! You can't refreeze breast milk!!

  • The only thing keeping me from going back to smoking is ds. Hes way to important to risk his health.

Im sorry so many of you have had bad days i hope it gets better for you :)

So weird you mentioned that. I just read it on kellymom.com. Keep freezer closed for 24-48 hrs. If milk still has crystals its still considered frozen and can refreeze. Put milk in back of freezer away from the door. It also said to use a well packed cooler w ice if needed to keep frozen.

    Hope you don't lose electricity!
  • I had a day like @kwrecks too. I actually forgot about the breastfeesing LLL group here in town. They meet on one Friday a month, though, so I might check out what te hospital has, also.

  • Yup been an off day here too. Not so much bad but just long and exhausting. I'm ready to just veg out the next week before I have to go back to school. I'm dreading having to take LO to daycare. It makes me so sad, but I have to do it. :((

Just think of all of the extra years you can enjoy with him by being smoke free! Not to mention the money you'll save and the great example you will set! Stay strong!

God a pack is rediculously expensive. Btw shoving your face full of candy probably not the best way to cope with jonesing

  • Waiting for DH to get home...and LO to wake up..she has been up most of the day, and finally went down around 8. I expect her to wake up soon. I think DH has an early work morning tomorrow, so we probably will go to bed early...LO needs a bath tonight...so hopefully she will go back down easy tonight...and momma can get a long stretch of sleep.

  • Just put LO down and praying she stays asleep. In the last hour and a half, I've been thrown up on and spilled half her bottle of reflux medicine all while LO screamed off and on from being tired... And her eyes are open. Sigh...

On my first feeding LO is great right now but OMG we spent the night a hotel last night he slept maybe three hours. He would not sleep.

When we got home he slept for five hours and I took a nap with him.

Praying for night tonight. Anyone else experience LO not sleeping in a foreign place.

We are supposed to go to Phoenix for Thanksgiving.

My LO did this too. Was up all night screaming and would only stop to eat and as soon as she was done it was right back to screaming. We drove home at 1 am, and as soon as we got home though LO slept for 5 1/2 hours. She was only a week old at the time and we were staying at my moms.

Since then LO has slept wherever we have slept. She is now 7 weeks old.

Thank you for the info. H was like we can't go out of town now.
I thought the same thing and was so nervous to go spend the night anywhere but we just kept trying and now she sleeps like a champ anywhere :) hope it's the same for your LO!
  • DS is driving me nuts tonight, he was fussy all evening and now keeps waking up and fighting his swaddle every time I put him down. I finally got him to stay down and started picking up DD's toys and getting ready for bed and he woke up, having slept maybe 30 minutes. He's only napped for 20 or so minutes at a time today and I'm just so over it. I don't understand how he's not tired cause I am exhausted!
  • LO slept a decent amount this morning but not this afternoon and had horrible gas pains. Once the gas passed she was pleasant until the two hours leading up to this post. H couldn't get her to settle so it was all on me. She is now sleeping and I'm hoping its for a good stretch although I'm not sure she ate enough to last several hours. This may be a long night.

Other then that today was nice, H and I did some cleaning and laundry and now we are watching Star Trek 3 while we wait for dinner to be done.

  • Had a good day with LO. Got in a bath, a walk and tummy time, which feels like a lot. Had a total "mom" moment, walking past the playground with the stroller, exchanging smiles with other moms. DH grilled me my first medium rare steak in 9 months which I paired with a glass of Malbec. GOD I missed wine.

Then, just to keep things in perspective, LO pooped AND barfed on me mid-feeding just now. Little stinker.
Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.

  • LO fought her last feeding so hard. Haha! It's the one feeding I wake her for, so she tried to sleep the whole time. We're FINALLY done, now it's MHs shift, and I'm off to bed! :)

  • Just finished up the midnight feeding. After an entire day with daddy and BM bottles, LO seemed extremely happy and content to be nursing...which of course melted my heart :x
Hopefully she is down for at least a 4 hour stretch. We have a busy day tomorrow...hoping to accomplish a shower, walk AND grocery shopping. (Doubtful but a girl can dream)
  • Currently rocking LO to sleep while eating a bowl of ice cream. :-)
Our washing machine broke today and of course I have a good sized pile of soiled burp cloths and sticky/crunchy toddler t-shirts lined up. I'm hoping DH finds a replacement soon before I have to go old school washboard on them. I don't know how many Cheerios the bathtub drain can handle!

  • Just finished feeding #1 after just over 4 hours...and REALLY hoping for another stretch, usually back at it in 2.5.

DH has a job interview at 7:30, fingers crossed that it goes well! He's currently employed but could really use a change...
  • Relaxing with ds trying to get him down.
Had a very busy day.y first daughter turned three today and we spent the morning at the hockey rink watching her big brother play. Her party was from 2 to 6 at a pool and play area. Lots of fun just wore out.

  • Rough day here, too. Hopefully we all have a better day tomorrow. LO and I are sleeping at my parents because we have to be at the hospital really early and this way I get an extra 45 mins of sleep- hopefully. He's in my moms pack n play, which is fine.. But I didn't bring the monitor with me. (I'm paranoid!)

I will welcome and T's and P's LO and I can get tomorrow. He goes in to get his tendons cut. :(
  • Up for feeding #1, after a 3 hour stretch. We had a great day. Family time at the playground and out for lunch. This afternoon, just LO and I went grocery shopping. He's a much better shopping buddy than my toddler. Bedtime went surprisingly smooth tonight, with few tears and sleeping in 10 minutes (2 yr/old). Flying solo tomorrow for a super busy day. Wish me luck and hopefully no more MOTN feedings!

Sigh...she woke up within the hour completely unhappy. Got her to fart a bit and burp again. nursed for 6 min and she's quiet. We're trying hard to get her to sleep in her crib, so we moved the swing out of our bedroom. DH already woke to see what was going on since she was crying bloody murder. I don't want to bother him any more tonight with his interview in 5 hours, so DD will go in the swing in the living room and I'll take the couch. I truly don't know how I'll start work in a week at this pace. She'll be 10 weeks on Wednesday and I'm losing my mind. :(
  • Up for our first motn feeding after a four hour stretch.  It was her first long one but I was awake for the first half of it.   Maybe she'll get another one in and I can get some rest.  We had a good day today although my fantasy team did horrible.  Watched football all day, went to target while DH watched DD, wrapped gifts for my friend's baby shower next Sunday,  gave DD a bath and had a couple of beers after she fell asleep.

  • Lo falls asleep just fine while laying on my chest or while eating, yet the moment I lay him on his back in the bassinet he starts grunting and straining ferociously. I can't figure it out! He sounds so incredibly uncomfortable, too. He struggles to produce the tiniest farts!

Have you read happiest baby on the block? We got it after a few ladies here seemed to Love it. I haven't gotten far into it yet but have tried the 5 S's technique and it has made LO much easier to calm and get to sleep.

  • Just got LO back to sleep after her first motn feeding. Man she's hard to wake up. I'll be glad when we can start feeding on demand at night. I'm currently rocking away with her and listening to the sound of a snoring cat. He sleeps under her crib. I had No idea He snored.
Now, to make the transition from nursery chair to bassinet. Wish me luck!
