Advice for chigger bites

So my sister's wedding was outside and I got bit up like crazy! I have probably 12 bites all on my feet and itch like crazy. I've tried calamine lotion, hydrocortisone cream and just tried vick's vapor rub. Any tips on helping to sleep at night or dry them up faster? I've never had them before now and now I know why people say they're so horrible!

Re: Advice for chigger bites

  • Oh jeez, be careful! DH got a ton of chigger bites during Army Ranger training over a decade ago and still has the scars from scratching them raw.

Heat helps mosquito bites, I'm not sure about chiggers. Make Benadryl or something?

  • Chiggers suck, I am sorry you got bitten! I would have tried all the same things you did. Maybe try an oatmeal bath to help soothe the wounds? I'd try and keep them moisturized and covered, so you can't scratch. :-( Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks Ricola! Yea I am going to try the aveeno oatmeal bath tonight and someone else suggested clear nail polish. They really suck!
