UO Thursday.

/Steps into flamesuit

I'm sick of 9/11. I'm sick of remembering where I was that day and monumenting the memorials as if we've never had a terrorist attack in our country before 9/11. I'm truly a patriotic American by every means; I love my country. I appreciate our opportunities, our advantages, and even our McDonalds'. I really just am sick of making a holiday out of terrorism, and digging up sore memories for those of us who have lost loved ones in the attack. This doesn't mean I don't care anymore. We've had our time to mourn and, like with all losses, I believe it's time to let it go. Can we please just let 9/11 go back to being a regular date on the calendar? There's so much more going on that day -- like adorable babies being born ;)

  • I want to not be pregnant anymore. I've had an easy pregnancy and have stuck with saying "we want her to come in her own time" so I feel like a total brat but I'd really like to say F- IT.....I want her out today! I'm jealous that all my friends had their babies early this year. (Sigh)

  • I never slow down for squirrels when driving. They always run across the road them stop and go back the other way. I have only hit one and I felt really bad. However my cousin slammed on his brakes for a squirrel once and he ended up totaling his truck and in a ditch. The squirrel escaped unscathed.

I am super patriotic and I respectfully try to avoid 9/11. It brings up so many bad memories and pain for me. I am happy to not talk about it either, but I understand those who have lost loved ones or who's lives were changed might want the day to mourn. Or maybe not. Maybe they want to try to move forward too? I hated all of the posts about it yesterday (where people were, what they did, how old they were), and it breaks my heart to see images of the twin towers. I was having BH contractions yesterday and they were starting to feel real. I told my closest friend that I can't have a baby on 9/11. It just isn't a happy day for me and I wouldn't want the conflicted feelings.

  • I don't want LO to come this weekend, as much as I want her here.  My birthday is Saturday and not only do I not want to be in the hospital, I don't want to share.  She should get her own special day (and leave mine to me...)

  • I'm 39 weeks tomorrow and I know full term is best but I seriously hope she comes out early because I'm tired of the snotty responses from people about how FTM usually go late. Like I didn't effing know that already, so if she's a few days before my due date I can say HA in your face. Yes, I know I that is bratty and ridiculous.

  • This won't be unpopular with y'all, but I imagine it will be with my employer. I'm so checked out of work right now, it's crazy. I'm trying to figure out how long I can fake work before leaving to have this baby. This baby who isn't coming anytime soon, probably.

This. I literally left work yesterday not able to recount doing hardly anything productive. I told my DH and he asked what I did all day if I wasn't actually working. I couldn't remember. I guess just staring at the computer screen pretending to be here?

I very nearly abhor baked goods with peanut butter in the ingredients.  Peanut butter is fantastic, but my taste buds have it confined to some limited dishes; for satays, sandwiches and toast.  That's all I can think of.

I love visiting my (American) in-laws for Christmas, but I also hate that they make me try their shitty christmas cookies.  And every. single. one. has shitty peanut butter in it, and they all taste the same because of it. Peanut butter is a ruiner of Christmas.  Only DH's (British) Nan makes tasty cookies and other Christmas confectioneries with no peanut butter; they include nice ingredients like walnuts, cranberries or plum butter.  Peanut butter cookies suck my balls.

I feel the same way. Yesterday afternoon and night I was having horrible pain. I was so scared that last night was going to be the time. I kept praying that if this baby is coming please hold out until after midnight. Thankfully I went to bed and everything started to calm down.

    Lmao!!!!

@happybride 276 @Mags04 I'm glad I'm not alone in this. Because trust me, I feel guilty in feeling this way. But I started getting cramps in the early morning of the 10th and I was just thinking to myself... You are not coming out tomorrow LO!
That doesn't mean I will always associate other people's babies with that date who are born during that day, it's just, I didn't want to associate it with mine. I'm just really bitter about the way people treat 9/11 that's all...

  • While I don't exactly 'milk' the whole pregnancy thing, DH has been really great about doing things that he didn't do before. He's been doing extra housework, running errands, and cooking.

As my due date approaches, I can't help but wonder if those things are just going to stop. If they do, that is totally going to suck.

I hate when people say that the things they buy for the baby are presents for the mom. They are not. I can't wear a newborn sleeper. My baby can. Therefore it is for the baby. Don't get me wrong I love getting things for the baby and I'm grateful for all of it. But don't pretend that it is a present for me. Baby shit is not a birthday gift for the mom, or the dad for that matter.
I totally agree with this, but I also hate the opposite. I hate when people ask me what I want for my birthday or Christmas or whatever, and really all I need at that time is something for my child. But they're like, "no, I want to get something for YOU!" Do you want to get me something I want, or something you want me to have? gah!

As for 9/11, I agree with the OP. I think it's facebook that makes it annoying. I'd rather just sit on my own or with my friends/family in person and think about it and mourn (or not do those things, if I'm not feeling it that year). I don't want to see it all over FB. I'm also glad I didn't have my baby on 9/11, because I think it would suck to share your birthday with such a bad historic event. I share my birthday with a big/bad historic event (that is MUCH more removed years-wise from my birthday than 9/11 is from our LO's birthdays) and even that sometimes causes a slight annoyance! I also feel guilty saying this right now because I'm assuming there are several moms on this board who did in fact deliver yesterday.

my UO, recycled from last week when other people had it as well: I want to stay pregnant for at least another week when FIL arrives. Granted, then I want the baby, but I really don't want him/her to come earlier because it's a bigger headache for us with regard to DS. Now this part will sound really crazy -- if the baby doesn't come by 9/23 when FIL leaves, I want him/her to stay put for another 5 days when my dad gets here, making me almost a week overdue. Having family here for the delivery (to watch DS) is more important to me than my own comfort or impatience in the matter. Also my dad is a doctor and was a big help medically last time, so it would be kind of nice to be in labor and delivering with him here. Though I'd rather just do it the week before when FIL is here, also for his sake. (How much would it suck to book your trip and then leave without meeting your new grandchild?)

Maybe you should tell your ILs that you don't like peanut butter. I wonder if some of their cookies would taste good just with that ingredient removed.

BTW I like peanut butter in desserts but I definitely see where you're coming from! My hate is almond/amaretto flavor/extract in desserts. It jumps out at me and tastes TERRIBLE. For this reason I don't like most Italian desserts/cookies in particular, because they usually have that horrible almond flavoring in them. The weird thing is that I'm totally fine with eating actual almonds or having them in a salad or whatever. Even almond chunks in chocolate are ok (I prefer them not to be there but will totally eat them if they're there.) It's just the flavoring that I can't stand.

Peanut butter is a gift from above
I love peanut butter (I even had a PB sammich for breakfast this morning), but I don't think PB has a place in EVERY holiday cookie.  I think there are so many awesome cookies that don't have peanut butter in it, but I am in love with PB candies.  I wouldn't want every cookie to have peanut butter in it.  I do think calling PB a Christmas ruiner is a bit much, however super funny.

I don't understand why people, who have never posted or been on this board before, post birth announcements just because they had their baby in September. If you're a regular in the August or October board, you don't need to tell us that you had a September baby. Maybe I'm the odd one out, but I had no desire/reason to post my birth announcement on the August board when my baby came early.
I think it's ok if they are officially joining our board at that time (which I would not do if I were them -- I'd stay with my original board, but whatever.) But I agree, if it's just a fly-by, there is no point.

  • Im sick of hearing about miley cyrus. Yes I used to like her. No what she is doing now with her career is nms so I choose not to follow her career anymore. But what I find really annoying is the people constantly saying "where are her parents" she is 20 almost 21... why are people thinking that her parents should still be responsible for her choices... how about the people who are unhappy with her choices hold her responsible... im pretty sure she isnt stupid and knows exactly what she is doing....

Oh I have.  I've said so in the nicest way possible that I'm not a fan, and more bluntly too over the years, ("I don't like peanut butter in baked goods").  But they don't make the cookies for me, they make them for everyone.  There are lots of other nuts I love with cookies, though.  I love almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, etc, but everyone else likes the overpowering taste of PB in every holiday cookie apparently.  And peanut butter prezels.  And peanut butter chocolates.  And peanut butter bagels and muffins and cereal.

I still don't get why my inlaws make me try the cookies, though, since they know I don't like them.  Like they expect one day I'll "wake up" and suddenly find it delicious.  hahahaha!  The worst was in the early days of getting to know his family before I realised that 99% of their cookies had peanut butter in them.  I'd see what I thought was a chocolate covered ball of cookie dough, take one bite and realise it was a peanut butter ball.  Or eyeball a delicious looking ginger cookie, pick it up, sniff it, and realise it was fucking peanut butter cookie AGAIN! And now I've touched it so I have to find my husband to eat it for me. I don't even go near the cookie table anymore, until my inlaws bring the trays around and force them upon me.  "Oooo Great Aunt Peanutbutternazi made these delicious peanutsnickerbutteroreodoodles!  You must try them!!!!" (shudder).

And I've tried swaying THEIR pallets too.  I always bring non-peanut butter related baked goods over to theirs.  My favourite are these plum jam stars with puff pastry and pretty powdered sugar on top.  My inlaws always seem to enjoy them, but I bet they're secretly wishing they had a big jar of peanut butter to dip them in.
