BTDT moms who had serious digestive issues while pregnant and a brief rant about ob/gyn

Hi! Im almost done!!! 36 weeks tomorrow!! I was wondering if other MOMS had serious digestive issues when pregnant. I have had terrible sickness and heartburn the whole time. There has not Bern a day gone by where I didn't feel ill. I have cut out tomatoes pepper onions anything w large amounts of sodium any caffeine among MANY other foods. Now, I cant wait to eat but Im scared. Im on prescription meds plus maniac and still have heartburn. My question is did anyone else have things this severe and if so when did it go away after delivery/c section.

Ps on a random rant .... my OB GYN didn't book my c section in time and now the OR is full. They are trying to get me in but its frustrating to not know my date esp since I need to find childcare! Its either next Fri or the Mon after.... plus lets be honest a final countdown date at this point would be awesome.

  • So sorry about the mess with your OB! What a mess!

I took extra strength Zantac, but it only ever took the edge off the heartburn. And, I threw up until hours before my water broke. It was awful. But, the second my boys were out, the heartburn was gone. I ate sausage every morning in the hospital and it was so delicious. My nurse called me her little eater since I was stuffing my face the entire stay. I was just so thrilled to be able to keep food down :).

  • Heartburn was gone the instant my LOs were out! And 3 weeks later, I haven't had it since :-) yay!!
  • I've been SO nauseous & constipated. It's a nightmare, heartburn no matter what I eat. Add sinus/tension headaches and I'm in Hell everyday. Finally reached my second trimester and I'm still throwing up. I can't believe I have 22-24 weeks left of this.
  • I had hyperemesis with both my singleton and twins along with severe heartburn. Almost literally the second they were out I felt normal and such sweet relief! I could eat pizza and have an iced coffee without feeling like I would die. Oh how amazing. Don't worry, it literally will resolve the second they are out.
  • Damn OB!

I had those problems too, MASSIVE heart burn. I had to cut anything acidic out of my diet (no pizza made me a sad panda). Anyways, it went away after delivery. I can eat all that stuff again. I wasn't on any meds but tums were my BFF for quite a while. I still try to avoid spicy though since I am BFing and don't want my girls to suffer.

  • I had really really bad heartburn w both my pregnancies. It didnt matter what I ate, it was all painful.

Both times, it was gone the day I delivered. Laying flat on my back again and not vomiting up acid was pretty awesome.

  • Okay, you guys are scaring me horribly ><   I'm only 8 weeks along and I'm praying with everything I have that this all day constant nausea will disappear in the next few weeks (okay praying for any moment :p ).

Just have to remember that I can be normal again once the twins are born?

I had horrific heartburn -> reflux the dr's at the hospital gave me Nexium (not that I'm advising you to take it, lol since I am no where close to a medical professional).  Thankfully, it was gone after the girls were born. ""ANGELS SANG!!""

oh, and I totally understand about aggravation with your OB and needing to arrange childcare... what a pain!!!

  • I had horrible heartburn and was finally prescribed Aciphex at about 20 weeks, and the MINUTE both babies were out (Csection) I felt immediate relief. Good luck!
