Pelvic rest oops

So, I'm on pelvic rest due to placenta previa, Dr. said "no sex"...DH and I took that to mean, no penetration.
After consulting Dr. Google, apparently it means "no orgasm"
whoops...

Now that I think about it, it makes sense...orgasms can shorten to cervix and that is why people say to have lots of sex to induce labor at the end.
I"ll have to let my Dr. know to be more specific.

Anyone else have a pelvic rest oops??

  • Same here. We made the same mistake. My doctor did not seem worried though.

  • thanks, that makes me feel better :)
I would be more worried if i was on pelvic rest for cervical shortening or pre-term labor.

  • I'm on pelvic rest for a SCH, but last week my nurse specifically said that if I haven't bled for 2 weeks I could "be creative other ways", so my no-orgasm ban is lifted. I have an appointment tomorrow and if the SCH is gone I will be off pelvic rest :)

@Mrs.N.H. Did that mean no brown spotting too or just the 'new' red blood? Sorry for such a personal question! Just curious cause (knock on wood) I haven't had any red bleeding since the initial episode but have had brown spotting. I read that it is two weeks from a bleed with red blod where you aren't supposed to do anything. Any wisdom on this with your SCH?
  • Yup me too. Just found out today.

I counted brown spotting too just to be safe. I know in theory is old blood, but better safe than sorry.

  • I thought people say to have lots of sex at the end because sperm contains something that helps the cervix along. Maybe it's both?
