Potty training is hard.....

So tomorrow I am pulling out all the stops. Aiden will get up and will not have a diaper on til nap time.  I am hoping that this will kick start potty training. I have tried just underwear and taking him every 20 minutes and he just ends up wet. He will sit on the potty for like 10 minutes but won't go. I am hoping this will work. I hope that if he goes on the potty a few times he will get the idea. Wish me luck and I will take any advice you have.

Thanks!!

Re: Potty training is hard.....

  • Good luck - the first day/morning is soooo hard!

I remember we must have run back and forth to the potty like 8 times during breakfast alone! But he really started to catch on by the middle of the 2nd day.

It's definitely a process and has its ups and downs!

  • LO's daycare teacher pretty much potty trained her. Thank goodness because she would not respond to any of my methods of trying to train her.

This is why I hate that we pulled J from DC right before we decided to PT. I wish they could've done it for me lol

  • Good luck! We didn't have any luck until we ditched the diapers during the day and just used them at nap/night time. And when we cleaned up accidents the first 2 days I always have him a sponge or paper towel to "help" too. He was already kinda OCD about cleaning up messes when he dribbles on himself or gets stuff on his hands at meal times he's always wants a rag to clean (but heaven forbid I suggest he wear a bib) We only had a couple accidents those first 2 days and then he got it.

  • Good luck! Keep in mind the first day suuuucks. Don't give up and keep trucking!
  • The first day is the worst! With T he peed on the floor 4 times before his nap, and we were putting him on the potty every 15 minutes. By that afternoon he got the idea and we haven't looked back (it's been about 3.5 weeks). Poop, well, that's a whole other issue :( Good luck!

  • GL!

DS is always pantsless at home b/c if he has pullups or underwear on, he will have an accident.
He is finally getting good at actually telling me that he has to go, but that is only when he is pantsless!

  • GL!  We tried once in May and G just wasn't catching on and we were both getting so stressed so after a week we stopped.  Then I tried again in July and he caught on very quickly.  I think he just wasn't ready in May.  So my advice would be to take a break if A isn't getting it after a while.
