Re: Ten Things Tuesday

  • 1. I get to be early since I am in Central Time today!

    2. I found epic coffee in Kansas! I have to drive 3 miles to get it, but in the mid-west, that's nuthin'. I laugh a bit though, thinking of driving 3 miles in Seattle and how many good independent coffeeshops I'd pass by...at first count I got 7-10, depending on the route, and not counting any non-indie chains (like charbucks). https://www.theroasterie.com/ is where I'm headed next!

    3. This is the first work trip I've been on since January I think, when I was still pregnant. Last year I flew over 50K miles. It's been so nice to nest at home, but I'm not minding some hotel room time without distractions of 'real life.'

    4. I'm starting to believe we will actually get to do our FET. One step at a time...I've hardly even allowed my self to think about getting an actual BFP or anything egregious like that... ;P

    5. I am SO excited for KH's ET today!!!! I hope she puts out quite a clutch, and then gets a great fert report. Thinking lots of Healz and Manada too, as they power through these IUIs with an IVF on the horizon.

    6. I've been going to Yin Yoga weekly now, it's long holds of (what look like) simple postures. The Yin is the quiet, meditative side of life, whereas the Yang is more the busy/chaos of life. It's been a great way to start the week on Sundays.

    7. J's new shop didn't open on schedule but the health inspection should be next week!! It's in a huge tennis center, and so far it is BUSY and the patrons have indicated they want salads, coors light, and carbs. Who knew? Fortunately, we can do all that!

    8. This is slated to be the hottest week so far this year in Seattle. September is usually our most summery month - but this year was such a gift - I can't believe it looks like we are still getting our 'bumper crop' of summer this month too!! I just figured it'd rain sooner.

    9. J has now, after being stuck on a girl name for the last 8 months, decided after seeing Elysiam that she loves Matilda. So, it goes on the list! I love it, and honestly after our loss SO many things just don't matter anymore. We can name the kid Bob, just get me a full term, healthy take-home baby please!

    10. I am watching the Ken Burns series on Netflix about The Dust Bowl of America in the 1930's - so well done, but definitely an investment to watch. However, here I am IN the dustbowl today, and it's been interesting imagining how awful life must have been. It's so windy and hot here (now paved, and with trees, etc.) - I can't imagine back then. And, J has instructed me I need to re-read The Grapes of Wrath.

    Lil'mamaz was born on Aug 21, 2014! She's PERFECT!

It's been a long road to here...
    Me (43) and J (45) - same sex couple. And we don't feel 40+!
    June'12 - First RE Visit
    Sept. '12 - Tubes removed
    Dec. '12 - Donor Egg/Donor Sperm IVF Cycle - 4 good embies!
Dec. '12 - Fresh transfer, BFP! EDD 8/29/13
Mar. '13 - Missed m/c at 16w1d, baby boy stopped growing at 15w4d
Loss due to umbilical cord clot...baby was perfect. :(
    Jul '13 - FET#1 - c/p
    Sept. '13 - FET#2 - BFN
    Dec.' 2, 2013 - FET#3 with our last chance embie - BFP!!!
    Dec' 26, 2013 - hb!!
EDD 8/20/14 with a baby girl!
    Little S was born on 8/21/14 - 8lb, 14 oz and 20 inches long.
We live in Seattle and used SRM for our donor egg IVF cycle

  • 1. 13dpiui BFN on an early response test. 98% sure this is a no go.

    2. Given #1, M found an used needle from the injectables cycle and wanted to practice giving a shot for our planned November IVF cycle. I wouldn't let her do it on me so she did it (with nothing in it) in on the bed. I'm not sure how excited I am about these injections ...

    3. Also given #1, apparently I'm feeling emotional. I told M I needed her to stop singing "Thank you for the music" because it was making me cry.

    4. Traffic is horrible in the morning these days. It is still construction season in Toronto and now students are back to school

    5. I'm excited for KH today on the egg retrieval

    6. I'm excited for our move in 3 weeks

    7. M and I bought a couch on Saturday at a furniture liquidators which means we got it for a good price.

    8. I am enjoying the GTKY Fridays and am impressed by how good 2Mamaz is at coming up with questions.

    9. I hope KH, 2Mamaz, and B&C get the IVF luck rolling so that it is ready to embrace us in Nov/Dec.

    10. M made me cinnamon raisin bread on Sunday at I'm trying to be reasonable about my consumption of it but it is so good.
    ****loss discussed*****

We're queer. I'm 33, have severe stage 4 endo, and had both fallopian tubes removed. My love ("Manada" on the boards, 32) was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. We did Partner IVF (my eggs, her uterus). We lost our twins Tavin and Casey at 21 weeks gestation.

    Our IUIs
with @Manada: IUI# 1-7 (December 2012- September 2013) all BFN. Tried natural, femara, clomid, puregon/follistim, clomid and menopur combo, both the ovidrel and HCG triggers.

    Our IVFs:
IVF #1 my eggs November/December 2013: Cancelled IVF due to poor response

    IVF #2 my eggs/Manada's uterus January/February 2014
BCPs and lupron overlap Stimmed: 1/22-2/2: Bravelle and Menopur (dosage ranged from B300 and M150 to B375 and M150 to B300 and M225)
2/4 retrieved 10 eggs. Endo was much worse than expected. Only 3 eggs fertilized; February 7 transferred two day 3 embryos, froze one. All great condition.
    BFP eve of 6dp3dt; Beta 1 (11dp3dt): 110; Beta 2 (13dp3dt): 175; Beta 3 (15dp3dt): 348; Beta 4 (19dp3dt): 2222; Beta 5 (21dp3dt): 4255
    1st ultrasound (3/6  6w 1d): TWINS!!!! Twin A measuring 6w1d with a heartbeat of 118bpm. Twin B measuring 6w0d with a heartbeat of 113bpm.

***July 18, 2014 we lost our beautiful babies at 21 weeks gestation. They were born too early. Tavin Sara T. and Casey Elizabeth T. are beautiful and precious and we will love them and miss them forever.***

    FET #1 December 2014
Intralipid infusion on Dec 10. Transfer of 1 day 3 nine-cell embryo into my uterus on Dec. 19. (acupuncture immediately before and after)
    BFP on Dec. 27; Beta 1 Jan 2 (14dp3dt): 665, Beta 2 Jan 4 (16dp3dt): 1859, Beta 3 Jan 6 (18dp3dt): 4449, Beta 4 Jan 10 (22dp3dt): 12,251.

  • 1. We're back from our hiking trip and we had an amazing time. The weather was spectacular (which is highly unusual for us) and we were able to hike three of the 5 days. The first day was our driving and set up camp day. Day 2 we hiked 12 miles (9 hours total, 8 hours straight!). Day 3 we rested and then did a few shorter hikes. Day 4 we hiked 8.5 miles (hiked for 7 hours). Day 5 we relaxed and hit the road home. It was nothing less than stunning and re-energizing! I've included a few pics below!

    2. My DW is cranky today!

    3. TTC related: It looks like we will be inseminating tomorrow and Friday. We're hoping we don't need it, but if we do, we will also try to hit Sunday or Monday as well. The opk's are getting a little darker and I tend to ovulate around this time in my cycle, so here's hoping. We are trying a little early this time so that we can increase our odds.

    4. It's hot as hell here in Michigan today. I HATE this heat. I can not wait for fall.

    5. Our second wedding anniversary is coming up and I'm in need of ideas...help!

    6. I had an acupuncture and chiropractic appointment yesterday and I feel so much better. It is getting very expensive, however, so I am hoping that we can continue.

    7. I am running out of things to say...so I'll just include more pictures...I have no idea why they are coming up sideways...

TTC our first. Married to, and madly in love with, my beautiful wife. Living with our fur baby and enjoying 19 nieces and nephews.

  • @GoaliesWife123 -- You live in Michigan!? We do too!

    1. Today is my monthly lunch with my coworkers! It's been a while, so I am actually looking forward to this one.

    2. My mom took a pretty big fall this last Friday and she's making me nervous! She is only 50 and I'm not ready for her to get older. I lost my dad at 14 and it's been me and her my whole life (as my parents divorced when I was really young) so I am not ready for her to get older at all.

    3. I started on Metformin and thyroid medication last week. I wish I could say I've seen a dramatic decrease in my sugar levels, but I have not. I KNOW I need to eat better, but I <3 carbs and chocolate. The good news is, I go in for blood work in the beginning of November and I am HOPING my levels are good enough to go back to the RE so we can jump back on the TTC wagon instead of following behind it.

    4. K and I spent our first entire weekend day apart. I spent time with my mom & grandma and she spent time with her mom. We much prefer to be with each other haha

    5. Why is it going to be 94 degrees today?! My sinuses are going bananas

    6. I cannot wait to go to the Cider Mill... Maybe if it's not a flaming inferno outside we can go this weekend :):)

    7. We are going to a wedding in two weeks that I'm not very excited to go to :(

    8. K & I rearranged the living room this weekend. I love the new set up! It makes it look like a different house.

    9. My name change is official (to K's last name)! I have a new driver license, social security card, new bank cards, and a new insurance card. It's awesome!

    10. Back to work for the next 2 hours before lunch

  • 1) I dry heaved at the grocery store yesterday because the deli counter smelled like dog pee.  I smelled the turkey I bought when I got home and it smelled rancid.  I didn't tell DP because I'm afraid she'll get her hopes up that I'm pg when my HPTs keep coming back negative.

    2) Begging my phone to ring so I can talk to my doctor.

    3) A meeting I was supposed to have next weekend is happening this weekend and I'm unhappy because I had plans to veg out after being so busy this past weekend.  And I have to prepare a lengthy report for it so I'll need to get cracking after this.

    4) I am annoyed with this weather.  It's supposed to be fall, dammit!  Go away, humidity!  I shouldn't have to run my AC and a fan in my office to keep it cool.

    5) I would love an Italian beef sandwich from Chicago about now.  If you've never had a Chicago Italian beef, you're missing out!

    6) I'm addicted to Candy Crush.  I am that person who constantly sends requests on Facebook.  I'd say I was ashamed if I didn't think the game was so fun.

    7) Writing about my dream about my gay husband made me miss him.  He move to Minnesota a few years ago and I rarely get to see him anymore.

    8) I'm glad he's not here anymore though because he's very bossy and he's difficult when he's drunk.  Just like a real husband I suppose!  Lol

    9) Speaking of real husbands, he wanted me to marry him several years ago - for real - because he wanted to be on my insurance.  I refused.  Who does that?!

    10) I was scared he'd refuse to get a divorce if we really did get married and then DP and I would be screwed when legalized SSM finally happened.  I am glad I didn't make a stupid choice in my mid-twenties to save him a couple hundred bucks on the medicine he needed.

  • Good morning ladies!!
    1. Today is DW and I 2 year wedding anniversary.
    2. It seems like forever ago that we go married, not just two years ago.
    3. I am on CD10, and awaiting our u/s and trigger shot on Friday.
    4. We finally have our fire inspection scheduled, it is a requirement before becoming licensed foster parents.
    5.  This process has taken forever!!!!  But we are getting the last few ends tied up and then will have our final home inspection hopefully soon.
    6. It is so hot out today!  I am ready for fall, but then I know that means winter is on its way :-(
    7. I think the Clomid is giving me a crazy appetite.  I am hungry all the time and I am craving stuff like Chinese food and chocolate.
    8. I am not a fan of the TWW, but we seem so much closer and loving during those two weeks.   It is kind of nice.
    9. I take medication to help me sleep, I was given the okay by my DR to continue it even while TTC or pregnant.  But I wanted to try and ween myself off medication that isn't absolutely necessary.
    10. Because of #9 I haven't been sleeping well at all :-(

In honor of our anniversary I thought I would share a picture of us on the evening of our wedding

  • 1. I'm at work and all of our systems are down. I work for a company of 600 and they put up notes at all entrances and elevators so no one would be surprised.

    2. I thankfully get to leave soon for half a day of volunteer work, so I planned on doing nothing this morning anyway.

    3. The weather in denver is amazing today, it feels like fall and I can't wait for boot and sweaters!!!!

    4. Yesterday's first ob appointment went really well, except for when I was walking out there was a lady screaming and crying :( I don't know what happened but my heartbroke for her.

    5. Official due date is tax day. K works in the financial world so she thinks this is a fun joke ha.

    6. My mom calls everyday to remind me how hard it is not to tell the rest of the family. We have a large gossipy family and I would rather wait until after the first trimester to tell my 80 cousins haha.

    7. I absolutely adore my in laws we told BIL about the engagement, he wanted to give us money for te wedding... We don't need the help but it was insanely sweet! Mil asked for pictures of yesterday's ultrasound and is so excited for us.

    8. On the name topic k decided last night that she was starting to not love her favorite boy name pick. It came to me as a shock but we have 8 more months to decide :)

    9. I wish I was going on a vacation this year but I want to carry over pto because I rather have more time off when little comes!

    10. Busses are here. I'm off to mulch trees!

  • 1. My wife is out of town on business for four days this week. I don't like it one bit.

    2. We're not used to being apart for long but I also am not used to fending for myself on crutches! It's been going OK so far, but it's exhausting. I did manage to get myself dinner last night, breakfast this morning, clean up after myself, run a load of dishes, shower, and get out of the house on time today, so I am feeling pretty accomplished.

    3. My ortho appointment got bumped up a day so hopefully that means one less day on crutches.

    4. I'm so excited to hear @KH826's ER report!

    5. Our cat's new trick is gnawing on the toilet paper roll and eating whatever she gets off of it (while there's still tp on it -- not an empty roll). I found tp in her hairball this morning. Why can't she just unroll it like a normal kitty?

    6. My wife and I both have Friday off. I wanted to do something for her after all the work she's done to take care of me, so I booked a surprise massage for her and a private Japanese hot tub for both of us at a spa. Massages and hot tubs are high on her list of relaxing activities and I think she'll really enjoy it after four days of work training and travel.

    7. I'm so impatient for the next embryo transfer. Is October here yet?

    8. At this time last year I was just about to start BCP for my IVF cycle. If you'd told me I still wouldn't be pregnant a year later, I'd have cried my eyes out.

    9. I have to get a mammogram in a couple of weeks. Glad to get it done before FET, but not looking forward to it.

    10. So glad to hear @herbabymama and herbaby (:)) are OK and at home after such a scary experience!

  • 1.  Weather forecast calls for rain for the next 3 days! Lord knows we need it!
    2.  Volleyball game after school, hopefully we can pull out our first win.
    3.  Baby girl is teething and drooling everywhere.
    4.  My grandma is watching LO today since my mom is out of town.  I'm a little nervous since she is pretty old and it is hard to pick her up off the floor.  I'm trying not to call a million times to check on her.
    5.  Rainy outside means Archery is not happening for my classes so we are staying inside and doing yoga instead.
    6.  Wife is sick and hoping she does not pass it to me.
    7.  I could really go for a pumpkin latte, even though, I've never had one!
    8.  Keeping my fingers for everyone that is TTC....especially everyone here and my best friends....cycle 5 for them.
    9.  Still in a delima trying to find a church that accepts us and our child.
    10.  Is it Friday yet?!?!

  • 1. Soooo glad to see a great update from kh on the egg retrieval! And ATX I love the pic ttt edition. And happy anniversary trisholio!

    2. I'm enjoying the inside of our house today. It is unbearably hot here to me right now.

    3. Got the car seat bases installed yesterday by the fire dept. just in time!

    4. I'm ready for 6 weeks off work and I wish it was longer but what can I do?

    5. I saw die hard for the first time last night. It was surprisingly good.

    6. We have a friend in from out of town for the week. I'm hoping I don't have the baby while she's here.

    7. I've been having bad dreams the last couple of nights. I actually woke up this morning crying. Ugh. I can't get them out of my head.

    8. We're trying to eat more heart healthy and i really really want chocolate or sweets all the time. Ugh! 3rd tri cravings are intense!

    9. I'm wondering how sparkles is doing. I wonder if she's had her LO yet.

    10. S got me a lovely purse over the weekend. I think she sees it as a "push present" although that is completely unnecessary. I have one purse I got from REI like 3 years ago and it has lots of utility. But I thought the gift was super sweet and it's really nice and stylish. And it still has utility! Including room for baby stuff which is great. I'm still thinking of what I can do for her as a gift for putting up with me for 9 months and all that good stuff. As this bday comes close, I think we are both just super into each other right now and that feels awesome. :)

  • 1. Congrats to all of you with good news and more steps forward this week! I am a bit to raw to comment individually but I am rooting for you.

    2. It was a bad day. We are officially in the BFN for this cycle. I got my period today and a BFN on the FRER so it's done for now.

    3. I have had two days of strategic planning meetings at work. I am exhausted from them and looking forward to moving forward in doing work this week.

    4. I cried about 5 times in my meeting today. Mostly just little tears that are okay, once during my checkin, and once I had to leave to have a big ugly cry in the bathroom before finally pulling it together..... Luckily I work with a supportive team.

    5. I am pissed at my body. And feeling like it is betraying me left and right. My wanting to make a family is growing so strong and I hate my body right now for failing me so completely in this.

    6. I write dramatic prose when I am emotional....

    7. I am going to watch H's last ball game of the season tonight. I am happy to do it on this hot, sticky evening.

    8. I can't wait to move at the end of the month. I am really looking forward to making a new home in a new place with my love.

    9 & 10. That's it for now I think. Am
    Tired.

  • 1.  Sorry to hear of your BFN Manda and Healz.

    2.  KH826 - sounds like things went well for you today.  Happy to hear it!

    3.  I'm on day 4 of my Femara and I think this time I'm experiencing many more side effects than before.  The change in the weather probably isn't helping either.

    4.  Our 1 year wedding anniversary is coming up and I'm trying to think of something special for us to do.

    5.  C isn't big on shopping/getting gifts, so I thought maybe we could get a canvas print made of our favorite picture from the wedding as our anniversary present.

    6.  She is on her way home and I don't have anything planned for dinner.  She mentioned either grilling or using a gift certificate we have to a local restaurant.  I don't feel like leaving the house, but I also don't feel like cooking either.

    7.  My mom and I joined WW back in January and I have been doing horrible this time around.  I don't track, I'm not exercising and I'm definitely not consistent with my water drinking.  I have been losing and gaining the same 5 pounds since I started.  I guess I wasn't really ready to join.  I'm not ready to give up, but I'm also frustrated with myself.  This TTC journey isn't helping...

    8.  This is the third month I have taken Femara.  I think that it is messing with my cycle.  My last cycle was 31 days, which is longer than normal for me.  My period this time was only 4 days, which is abnormally short for me.  I started spotting two days before, again, abnormal for me.  I'm trying not to stress too much over this whole process, but a little bit is to be expected I suppose.

    9.  C just got home...time to decide on dinner.

    10.  I'm hoping for three good follicles on Monday.

    Me: 30  DW (aka C): 29

Together since 2/15/11 ~ Legally married in NY on 9/29/12

    ***CP mentioned***

We've been working on baby #1 since July 2013 using Open ID donor sperm.  8 IUI attempts with 5 actual IUIs and one chemical pregnancy.  We have one fresh IVF cycle under our belts as well as a FET.  I have endometriosis and a uterine septum that was corrected via surgery in November 2013.

11/14/14 -  Second HSG shows that tubes are still clear and ute is looking good.

12/6/14 - Started BCPs in prep for IVF #2

12/22/14 - Saline u/s and endometrial scratch (All was clear and OUCH!)

    1/2/15 - Began stimming for IVF #2

     ****All Welcome!****

We are Mommas to four fur babies - 3 dogs and 1 cat.

  • @KH826 - I can't wait to hear how things turn out for you!  Everything is crossed for you!

@ATX - UGH!!!  Texas is TOO HOT (and humid)!!

    1.  Went shopping this weekend for new clothes.  My bump is getting bigger, and I have to accomomodate.  I like shopping for new clothes so I don't mind :)

    2.  I made a pot of black eyed peas Sunday that my mom and I shelled while I was at her house.  It reminds me of my childhood to do stuff like that, and the peas were so good!!!

    3.  I have to work a "midnight" shift tomorrow night, then seven hours after I get off work (at 7:00 in the morning Thursday), I have my doctor appointment.  I just want to get it over with as I know it is going to SUCK!

    4.  My mother gave me the rocking chair that she rocked me and my brothers to sleep in when we were babies.  I love it!!  I would rather have older stuff with character and meaning than new stuff without memories.

    5. I can't wait for fall!!  I love everything about it.  The jacket weather, my shows come back on, work isn't so busy, and I get to carve a pumpkin!!  I feel like I'm a big kid, and I am completely okay with that.  :)

    6. My allergies are driving me insane.  I have migraine headaches, and can't take my prescription meds with bean in the oven, so I do what I can to try and head them off.  When my allergies act up, it always scares me that it is going to lead to a migraine that I can't stop.

    7. I am also addicted to Candy Crush..

    8. I also really like zombies...movies, shows, etc with zombies and I am all about it!  The Walking Dead comes on next month.  Yay!!!   Just bought a "bumper sticker" magnet that shows the chimp to man evolution, then a headstone, and next a zombie.  It is awesome!!

    9.  I started playing along with The Million Second Quiz last night, and it just started again.

    10.  I love this board, and you all are amazing!!

  • @KH - FX for your upcoming transfer, I can't wait to hear about next steps.
@Manada & Healz so sorry to hear about this cycle :-( I will be sending you both warm thoughts!!

    1. It's official I feel like crap... Ugh. I wanted this I am trying to remind myself. Blech. Nausea non-stop sucks.
    2. Kaden inherited a plastic push cart from friends yesterday. He pushed it around their house for hours and now he is pushing it around non-stop here.  Maybe he can push our grocery cart this afternoon.
    3. Okay back to TTT after a several hour break - this afternoon EV and I ran errands and drove by another house, to check out the neighborhood. I think we're starting to narrow our search down.
    4. EV's been kicking butt on the job search. My fingers are crossed that she lands one soon :-)
    5. I am keeping our friends second ICI cycle in mind. Hoping for a BFP and a little 1/2 sibling for Kaden & the mini-nugget
    6. I learned today that our little mini-nugget is developing 100 new brain cells every minute - biology is incredible!
    7. Since we share a hotel room with Kaden its lights out at his bedtime.  EV are sitting here in the dark with our respective electronic devices. Sometimes we watch a show (each one of us gets one earphone, it's very cozy ;-)
    8. I'm obsessing about getting an ultrasound. I feel like it will make this pregnancy real for me.
    9. I miss my parents, it's weird because they can drive me crazy - but I can't wait to see them next. Maybe once we move in to our new place I'll plan a trip out to Tucson
    10. Our life now is so chaotic and up in the air, sometimes it's depressing. I am trying to stay positive and grateful and realize this is just another transition. But sheesh!! This is no vacation.  One great thing is the food of the SF Bay area - I did miss the variety of great restaurants even living 40 minutes north.  :-)
  • I've been so absent lately, with so much to say.  I'll see if I can fit it in before I have to leave for work in 10 minutes.

    1) Makenzie is 3 weeks old today!!

    2) I got a new job!!  I will still be with the news station, but moving in a different department, which will give me a three dollar raise, plus I will be union.

    3) Looking over my union contract last night, I saw that after working x amount of days (basically getting out of the probation period), I will qualify for 90 days paid maternity leave!

    4) We are almost ready to finalize the adoption.  We have everything, but because we haven't gotten our marriage certificate (waiting for more than a month!!) DP can't make the legal changes to her name to get a new driver's license, insurance stuff from having the baby, etc.  Which means we have to sign another form with two witnesses and the donor (we already got every on together to do this last week, after I begged the notary to stay an hour late) because our replacement lawyer had the wrong names.  (Regular lawyer that we've been working with is on maternity leave, she had her baby a week or 2 before us).

    5) After meeting with the donor and witnesses to sign said paper in #4, as we were leaving our donor was like "so .. didn't you say you wanted two kids?  When do we start that?"  Which was awesome, because I've been telling DP to text him to ask about his availability to try for our second.

    6) So, following #5's short conversation, I am (the only time in my life, I think) eagerly waiting for my period to come so we can give him more concrete dates to come over to inseminate.

    7) As of now, my next fertile date is (approx.) Oct. 2nd.

    8) If I get pregnant the first try (not counting on it), it will be a birthday baby, my birthday is Sept. 30th, DP's is Oct. 12th.  =)

    9) I also will have my college hockey gig for this winter, which means extra money from October to March.

    10) Sadly, I will be working a lot of 7 day weeks when there are games due to my new schedule at work.  I know it's temprary, and I love hockey, so it's not horrible, but I'm just hoping that I can bring DP and baby to more games this season.
