Wall paper removal help

My husband bought this house way before we met.  He pretty much gutted and re did everything.  For some reason he liked borders.  I'm starting working on this little girl's room.  The deer must come down!  How the hell do I remove a border without damaging the dry wall?  Any tricks?  Any products that are a must?

Re: Wall paper removal help

  • Liquid fabric softener and water get the boarder nice and wet peel it off. It does take time though
  • Loading the player...
  • Hot Hot Hot water and dawn dish soap!!! I used my coffee maker (sans coffee grounds) to heat the water, put it in a spray bottle with the dawn, sprayed it on and let it sit for about 2 or 3 minutes and it scraped right off. Super easy!

  • Fabric softener. For reals. Score the paper first, spray the softener on, and then let it sit for a little while. Works great, and no toxic fumes.

    BabyFruit Ticker
  • I would totally rent a steamer!!!!!! So very worth it! I've tried several different methods, and that was the only thing that worked. I dewallpapered an entire bathroom in about an hour with one:)
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • I have had success in the past with hot water in a spray bottle and a putty knife for stubborn areas.

  • I just removed a ton in our house. We used our garment steamer. Hold the steam over the paper and it peels off!
