Short cervix at 15 weeks?

We went in for our 15 week u/s today and my cervix is at 3-3.3 currently. She said this is short and wants to see us again in 2 weeks. She just keeps saying it's too soon to tell anything and didn't want me to worry. I didn't know if anyone here had gone through it? I just kinda want to know what other doctors have said and other experiences?

I don't think that's short. My doc has said from the beginning that anything over 3 is good. I was at 3.5ish from 15 weeks until 23 weeks and my doctor was very happy. I was at 3.2 last week and my doctor was still happy with that.

Mine had shortened to about a 3 at 17 weeks (from a 4 earlier), and my doctors keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get any shorter, but they didn't consider a 3 to be "short" or anything they were particularly worried about. I, on the other hand, was very worried about the sudden decrease in length and I was worried that my cervix would keep shortening. However, at my 24w appointment, it was still holding steady at about a 3.

I was/am having a lot of contractions that are non-painful stomach muscle tightening. I'm on really limited activity level to limit those, and I have to carefully time those to make sure they aren't over 45 seconds and I don't have 4 or more in an hour.

My doc just likes to see a length over 2.5, so I think you are fine. My first measure menus were 3.4, 3.5 and then 3.9! You never know what can happen, mine actually lengthened! I am also at a risk for PTL since my son was a preemie! Just make sure your doc keeps an eye on it but no need to worry yet.

Awesome thanks to both of you! I was just worried she was "sugar coating" it by saying don't worry. I will keep drinking lots of water and keep my feet up!

i think it can change, but i'm not sure what is/is not normal. My MFM said anything over 2 is good. at 16 weeks mine was 5.4 and at 18 weeks it was 3.9. They still aren't worried (even though I am!). I think if you are over 3 you are good!

At 16 weeks I was 3.0. 19 weeks I was 1.7. With SBR and progesterone I remained at 2.0 from weeks 21-35.6. I also had lots of funneling and was dilated to a 2 at 19 weeks. I don't mean to tell you this to scare you or anything. Just to tell my story and experience with a short cervix. I did not get the cerclage as it isn't recommended or proven to help with a twin pregnancy but did receive 2 rounds of steroid shots. My water broke at 35w6d and I delivered two healthy little girls at 5.10 and 5.13 who required no NICU time and we were able to bring them home with us!

@JordynLeighx3 1st - Thank you for that! It truly goes to show "it's not over til it's over" - sounds like you had some great doctors! I will know more in 2 weeks when I go back to see if it's shortening more or staying consistent. I'm trying to drink a ton of water and relaxing. I'm sleeping sitting up because of heartburn, I hope that's ok?

2nd - Go Hawkeyes!!! Adorable outfits my hubby has already bought some Hawkeye gear. We're in Des Moines! Will you be going to the game this weekend?

Yeah, I agree with PP, that's not really short. Good that they're keeping an eye on it though.
