Weight Watchers?

I'm finding that getting a workout in with LO around is nearly impossible, not to mention i am lacking any energy to do so. I figure at least right now I can control my diet.

Has anyone ever tried weight watchers? Is it time consuming or easy to do? Did you have success?

Not sure if I want to make the investment, but feel like I need to do something for me, especially when it comes back to getting in shape and healthy again post baby.

  • I did weight watchers a couple of different times.  The first time I stopped because I couldn't afford it, and the second time I stopped because I was pregnant.  I love the program. It's easy and you can eat what you want, and it teaches you how to eat in moderation, and how to still live your life while losing weight.

Another program I tried was myfitnesspal.com.  It tracks calories instead of points, and the phone app is very convenient.  Weight Watchers is great if you need the support from other people, myfitnesspal is great if you just need to keep track of calories in/calories out.

  • I loved WW! I also used the online program and I was very successful with it (I mostly used it to maintain my weight since I had already hit my goal).

Since I learned the basic concepts, I'm now using the my fitness pal app and have drastically cut my calories (I FF so it won't affect my supply). My plan is to lose 40lbs. I cannot wait to start working out.

  • I started WW last week. I love the program and they have a 'nursing' diet. I am using the online tools.

  • Yes!! I'll be starting again when I head back to work at the end of the month
  • I did Ww prior to my first pregnancy and lost 35 lbs. I kept it off for a few years until I got pregnant with DS1. I went back after having him and took off all the baby weight with no problem. Will probably do the same this time.

The program is easy to follow. I love that you can eat anything... No cutting out food groups or extreme rules. It makes it easy to have a social life, go out to eat, cook for the family etc.

  • I did WW about 5 years ago and lost about 30 pound and maintained it until I had dd1. After I had dd1 I joined again and lost the weight until I had this Lo. In a lifetime member and I will probably join again so I can lose the weight. I don't have as much to lose this time but I would like to start eating healthy again and lose that last 8 lbs.

  • I did ww for 2 years before I got pregnant and lost 40lbs within the first 6 months. I was able to keep it off using the program until I got pregnant. I gained 40lbs in pregnancy...naturally lost about 20 after giving birth and am back on the program now. It works if you stick to it! I also ran 2-3 miles 4 days a week. Can't do that now due to c section, but plan to get back to exercise when jam allowed. Good luck!! Oh and I just do it online....

  • How do you account for breast feeding, though, to make sure your supply doesn't drop?

They have a special program for nursing mothers.

I used WW after DS was born to lose the baby weight. The online program was easy and I lost 35lbs. I'll be using it again to lose the baby weight I gained with this pregnancy.
  • I used it a few times to lose "those last 10 pounds" and I will probably do it again to lose my baby weight (and the 10 or so lbs I was up before getting pregnant). I've done the online program not the meetings due to my schedule and I always liked program.

  • I've never done ww but I have been living the south beach diet for 5 years now. Before my first I lost 50 lbs and was able to drop to my pp weight before each pregnancy pretty easily. I use phase three every day and do phase two on the weekends. No phase one, it is to restrictive for nursing. I might try ww online this time I seem to have the last 6 lbs sticking around

  • Has anyone done WW while BFing? I really want to lose weight and I know they have a program for nursing moms but I'm still nervous that it is going to mess with my supply.

  • I did weight watchers before I got married and lost 17lbs (doesn't seem like much but I have a very small frame). I was able to become a lifetime member and kept it off for three years until I got pregnant. I just started back up again due to my 52 pound pregnancy gain. I am already dropping the weight quickly and am hoping to take off these last 18 pounds in the next 3 months before I have to start paying again. I would say it is totally worth the money and if you are cheap like I am you will work even harder to lose the weight quickly so you can stop paying. My advice is to make sure you find time to go to meetings and download the point tracking and bar code apps if you have a smart phone. It will make life much easier. Good luck!

I have been doing WW for 2 weeks and have not had supply issues. This diet is not designed to drop lbs quickly, it's more of a gradual diet. You usually use .5-1lb/week. Therefore your supply should be fine.

  • For those ladies who are already doing weight watchers, how many extra points do you get for breastfeeding? Thanks!
