My LO is 6 weeks old. I have really been working to put him down drowsy but awake but it is just not working at all. He needs to be held to go to sleep and since we hit the dreaded growth spurt on Friday, he refuses to stay asleep longer than 10 mins, unless being held. Naps are a nightmare lately. I don't mind holding him at all but I have a 5 year old and 3 year old that aren't exactly creating an environment conducive to sleep! Lol
My other two kids I was evdntually able to put down drowsy but I can't remember when. I know he's way too young to self soothe but just wondering if anyone else is able to get their LO's down drowsy or if you're having to hold/rock them, like me? I want to create good sleep associations but there's not much I can do at this age if he doesn't want to fall asleep on his own.... Plus I don't think a growth spurt is the time to tackle any sleep issues.
What do you all do?
Re: Does your LO put him/herself to sleep?
Baby girl #1 7/11/13
Baby girl #2 4/30/15
Baby Boy Due 2/16/19!
I do have the Ergo but lately, he has been fighting even that! I think the problem is, he's just so overtired, he's fighting any form of sleep! Lol
Thanks for all the comments, ladies!

Today he is 8 weeks he takes 2 longer naps and little cat naps after nursing. At night he falls asleep nursing then really zonks out while I burp and rock him. Then 6 hours later he wakes I change and feed him, we makes faces, talk and stare at ceiling fan. I set him down while he stares at ceiling fan he farts a few times and dozes off. Whole process takes about an hour
He has put himself to sleep for naps a few times but I usually nurse him to sleep for naps, not intentionally though like on a schedule, if he falls asleep nursing I lay him down and whether he stays asleep or not is up to him. I've never felt the need to make naps happen, so far he gets in what naps he needs to stay happy on his own(;
