Congested 7mth old; advice?

LO has been congested with slight cough and running nose for 8 days now. The running nose is not consistent, but does run a clear liquid some time throughout the day. The cough is there, but again, not often throughout the day. I took baby to Dr on second day of illness. Dr said that I just need to continue using saline drops and suctioning as often as possible. She said the congestion could lead to an ear infection. Dr. didn't mention anything about a follow up appointment or any over the counter meds that can be used to assist in clearing this issue up.

Any advice? Baby is sleeping through the night. She does not have a fever. Just uncomfortable.

    There's not a whole lot you can do in terms of medicine. When LO has a cold, we do: saline drops, nose frida for suctioning, cool mist humidifier, elevate the crib a little if her sleep is disturbed, Tylenol as needed for fever or discomfort. And lots of cuddles! If it continues past a couple of weeks, I take her back in to get checked for an ear infection (they look in the ear to see if it is inflamed and/or infected). Not much else you can do - you can't give them decongestants or anything like that until, I think, 2 years of age.

    I'm going through the same thing here.  DS has a cough, and slightly runny nose, but no fever and the mucous is clear.  He coughed quite a bit in the night last night, but I think that's just due to his runny nose.  We used the nose frida to clean it out each time, and he went right back to sleep.  Wish there was more we could do.  Hope your LO gets better soon.

    We are there too. Her snot is clear now instead of yellow as it wa for a few days and her throat is a little less scratchy. Just cuddles, humidifier, nose Frieda and saline for us
