DH and I are going to start TTC for baby #2 at the end of December. This morning, my aunt called and asked if I'd be interested in going to the Grand Canyon in June 2014 and fly with my uncle who has always dreamed of going. It has been his lifelong dream to go here and he has had a lot of things build up on him in the past few year. I would love to be able to do this for him. It if were a direct flight, he could do this by himself but with switching planes, it would possibly be tricky for him because he doesn't like big crowds. We would meet my aunt in Las Vegas (she lives in MD) and drive with her to the north rim. My aunt and uncle are bro/sister. I would like to go but a lot of factors play into this. One, we already have a cruise booked for March that we are for sure going on as long as my DH is approved for the time off. Two, I'm not sure my DH could get this time off in June. Three, I may be pregnant (about 25-27 weeks along) IF I were to get pregnant right away. I had an easy pregnancy last time and felt great at that time. I guess I am just worried about the long flight, the heat (but I am from Florida), and the fact that I may not be able to partake in a bunch of hiking or such. If I don't get PG right away, and it takes a few months I think I would feel better about this because I wouldn't be as far along. On the other hand, I would love to go and I know that we my DH didn't go, it would be a very long time before we were able to. We would not bring DS, my mom would babysit. So, basically, if you were in this situation, what would you do?
Re: Is this crazy? PG related
Book it- get the trip insurance. We traveled to California when I was 27 wks for two weeks and had a great time- hiked Big Sur and even went ocean kayaking. It was a 5 hour flight from the east coast didnt bother me at all. We were supposed to go to Chicago when I was like 33 wks short trip just to see friends, but I went into early labor followed by bed rest at 31 wks and called the trip insurance company and they sent us our money back was pretty easy. So since you don't know whats going to happen- live life and just get the insurance as I recall the insurance was pretty cheap.
Just to clarify as i am re-reading dont think the trip had anything to do with the early labor, my mom had the exact same pregnancy and the labor didn't start until we had been home for about two weeks.
