Well, looks like my my little man wanted to be a September baby! Woke up Saturday @ 1am soaking wet - none of that trickle stuff here! Went to the bathroom, changed, and soaked through that while I woke hubby up and called the hospital. Threw together a bag, threw the car seat (box and all, lol) in the car, and got to the hospital around 2:30am where I was already at 2 cm. Midwife told me I'd probably have a baby by 7pm that day. Checked in, and the OB ordered a steroid shot and put me on Magnesium to try and slow contractions down. By 8:30 I knew I was in active labor, but the OB and nurse told me that I wasn't, and that I had a whole day ahead of me of these contractions, so if I couldn't handle it, I should just get the epi and forget about my natural birth plan. By 9:30am, I said fine, give me the epi, I can't do 10 more hours of this, since they kept telling me I wasn't even in active labor. Well, 9:45am she did a vaginal exam (we'd been avoiding them to minimize infection risk) and said "uh, I guess you were in active labor, your at 9cm and we're delivering this baby now". Ug, thanks lady.
Anyways, Daniel was born at 10:33am after 10 very short hours of labor ( the magnesium did nothing for me,lol). He's doing well, but will be in the NICU for about 2 weeks to help his lung function improve. He was 5.8lbs 18 inches and 6 weeks early! TIA for all your T&Ps!
