Stroller help

I'm so confused about strollers. From what I've read, until our twins are 6+ months I'll need either a double stroller that accommodates 2 car seats or one that reclines to almost completely flat. But if using one that reclines, you need something by their feet to keep them from sliding out...even if they are strapped in? It doesn't look like most strollers have this; am I wrong?

Is it a mistake to get one that doesn't accommodate 2 car seats since we might disturb the babies' sleep when transferring from car seat to stroller? I was hoping to not buy one to use initially and have to swap it out in a year, but I don't want to disturb naps.

Another question--I have a double jogging stroller lined up (thanks to my sister for saving hers for me!), which I know I can't use for quite some time. DH thinks we should get an all-terrain stroller and I'm leaning toward a traditional double stroller b/c they seem lighter/less bulky/easier to maneuver in stores, etc. I think getting an all-terrain is sort of redundant when we will have one for jogging. The outside use of the stroller would really be limited to sidewalks, no trail runs or walks. Advice?

Re: Stroller help

  • We have a DSNG (joovy twin roo) for now and then a BOB duallie when they get a bit bigger. We won't be getting an all terrain or other big stroller and tbh, I don't know if I see the value in another stroller besides the BOB at all. We'll see.

  • We skipped the double snap and go and went straight to the city mini double at 4 months..just carried them r wore them before that. That said, you can get a preowned dsng for like $35 on Craigslist. We also found the sbs to be much lighter and easier than the tandem strollers. Fwiw, I love LOVE our city mini.
Good to know. This is what I'm leaning towards.

  • We plan to get this once baby B comes home from NICU!

Joovy® Twin Roo Infant Car Seat Frame Stoller

The TwinRoo validates why different is good! It mounts the infant car seat sideways and in opposite directions, giving parents easy access to their children without the push handle getting in the way.

I have a single city mini and love it, I plan to save and get a double city mini from later on:) Hope this helps! I was told that twin preemies usually stay in the newborn carseats long so I feel it's worth the 120.00 for the frame and it looks nicer than the other ones I have seen. Hope this helps!

We only bought the BOB duallie and love it! I was a little disappointed at first about not having a car seat compatible stroller but my twins aren't fans of their car seats because they get too hot. The seats recline almost flat and we've been using it since they came home from the nicu. (For walks, not running yet.)
  • I only used my DSNG at first. I got it used for about $40. Loved the convenience.

I have a Combi Twinsport also, which can be used for newborns, but only one car seat. I love it and still use it all the time, and my boys are two.

If you have a jogging stroller you definitely don't need an all-terrain as well. You can use the jogger for outdoor type uses.

  • We bought the Baby Jogger City Select. Love it so far [we use it as a single stroller for now w/DD, until the twins come].
    Good luck picking yours out.

So do we! It's a bit shorter than the dsng so the turning radius is so much better! I kept all the pieces and the box and plan on reselling it on Craigslist when my babies outgrow it. Right now though, I find it to be the most important thing we own other than the rock and plays :-) I can't even imagine being abble to leave the house without it!

I'm just starting out on my research so take this with a grain of salt (I could be totally wrong) but we are probably going to get this one "Contours Optima tandem stroller". It has both the infant carseats adaptors and the set up for older kids. It would work for a long time. Plus the seats are totally adjustable, the twins can face each other or towards the front or back etc. It seems to have great ratings everywhere. It's usually around $300 but there are used ones on CL. Also, these " Britax® B-Safe® Graco® SnugRide® Infant" infant carseats go really well with it IMO.

  • We bought the most awesome double stroller yesterday at REI. It's called a Chariot Cougar 2. It has a conversion kit to make it a bike trailer & a kit to make it a jogging stroller with a big single front wheel. Otherwise it had 4 wheels. We live at the beach so we wanted something that we could take for a walk at low tide but also be all-terrain. It's super lightweight compared to the BOB and seems much more compact than other double jogging strollers. I can easily turn it with one hand and it swivels in one spot. This will take the place of a dbl umbrella, jogging, and bike trailer. It was $547 and you do have to buy the jogging conversion which is about $75 but it just seemed so much better than the BOB. It had 100lb weight capacity so we'll be able to use it for a long time. I totally recommend googling it. We are also getting a tandem Chicco contour which will will let us snap the infant car seats right in and use for later. Plus it collapses with basically one button. Oh, and you can take the wheels off of the Chariot & switch to jogging wheels or bike by simply pressing a button. No tools needed.
  • My mistake, the Chicco is actually the Cortina Together. We didn't like that other strollers had straps to hold the car seats. It didn't seem very secure. Or easy. The Chicco Keyfit 30 car seats snap right in.
  • You ladies are so helpful. Thank you!

The ability to snap in instead of strap in was a major selling point of the joovy for me. It's only compatible w Chicco, Graco and Peg car seats for that reason.
