Yeast infection help

Ladies, I've had a yeast infection this entire pregnancy. It's not responding to treatment I've had 6 Diflucan and used 3 monistat 7 kits only get relief for about 6-7 days. If you've had a YI for your entire pregnancy I'm curious if it responded to treatment right away after the baby is born. And what is the chance if the baby being born with thrush?

Re: Yeast infection help

  • Have you tried probiotics? It has been the only thing that has helped me and my doctor said they were fine.

  • Have you been tested for Bacterial Vaginosis?  I thought I had a YI after being on antibiotics for a sinus infection for a week, then trying 3-day monistat.  It wouldn't clear up on its own, and when I saw my OB, it turned out to be BV.  Don't google it, they make it sound worse than it is.  You just need a certain type of antibiotics to cure it.  On that round of antibiotics I took probiotic pills, like PP suggested.  I wasn't doing a third round of antibiotics for something caused by antibiotics.  Bonus: the probiotics kept me super regular.  GL!

  • Try eating yogurt daily. That seems to keep mine at bay. Had one early on and none since.

  • I'm VERY prone to yeast infections I take acidophilus pills and I get them from the refrigerator section. I take them daily and when I feel one coming, I double up twice a day. It's very safe for the baby and does the trick for me.

  • And I totally agree with housewifebecomesher - get tested fe BV. I flipped flopped between the two for a while once. It was really hard for me to find a balance again.

This is what I was going to suggest.  You can put coconut oil in plastic wrap (roll into a tampon type shape) and freeze for a short time to make suppositories too.

Also, I have heard that garlic (up inside the vagina) works well.  I've heard that you should peel a clove, nick it with a knife, tie a string to it (like a tampon) and insert it.  I've never tried it though.

I have tried the garlic once long weekend and the small town we were visiting everything was closed. NEVER AGAIN. It burned. So bad. Even when I took it out I burned for days. Sigh. It worked but the yeast infection felt more pleasant.

Ugh, I'm so sorry for you.  I'm glad you replied with your experience though.

Maybe garlic pills (supplements) would help instead, OP?  (I buy mine on Vitacost for my DS with autism to help with gut issues) Or adding garlic to a smoothie (even though it wouldn't taste great)?

Happy to be the PSA. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
