I mostly lurk but my LO is 7w and we are also dealing with lingering jaundice/elevated bilirubin. He was readmitted to the NICU the day after our discharge because his level was 19. After 12 hour under the lights he went up to a 19.8. He was under the lights for 4 days before he was discharged with a 14. At home he bounced between 13 and 16. Last check was a 14.5, last Monday. Because of the random elevated bilirubin, we've been referred to a hematologist. Do they have you seeing anyone? Are your LO's blood counts normal? So far what we've been told is generic red blood cell disorders are the most common cause of this. There's nothing in our families but random gene mutations account for 10% of cases. Most of the disorders are NBD and spherocytosis seems to be the most common. The red blood cells are shaped incorrectly thus breaking down faster causing the high bili. Feel free to PM me if you want to chat at all, and I'll be praying for you!

Just read entire thread-jaundice in babies is rarely a sign of liver issues, if that makes you feel better! Majority of the time it's too many red blood cells, not that the liver can't process them

T&P to you. My LO was diagnosed with clicky hips (hip dysplasia) and has been in a brace from 3 weeks. Seems a bit daunting especially on top of everything else your going through but truthfully I think I get more annoyed by the brace then she does. They adapt really quickly to it and it becomes like a second skin to them. Plus catching it early and treating it properly young is much better then letting it go til their older. Good luck. I think there is a couple other girls on June that have bubs with hip dysphasia too.
Thinking of you and hoping everything is ok! We had an ultrasound yesterday and they have little toys and a TV over the table to distract LO so its not so bad.
Re: T&P for my little dude
