T&P for my little dude

Had his 2 month appt today. He has almost doubled his birthweight at 13 lbs and has grown 3 inches!

He still has the freaking jaundice. We have to get his levels checked again. He also has clicky hips so we need to get an ultrasound. Thoughts and prayers that everything is ok. Thank you

Ugh. Like 2 weeks. I think it's breast milk jaundice which usually clears up in a couple months and the doctor just wants to make sure nothing's up with his liver.

Poor kid has been poked and prodded so much! We also had to get an ultrasound on his sacral dimple. He just can't catch a break.

At our 1 month appt DS2 still had it and the pedi said it can last up to 6w though it should be less every week.

Such an adorable chunky monkey! I'm sorry about the jaundice. Of course ask your medical professional, but my midwife had me strip DD down to her diaper and lay out in the sun while BF for a couple of days. Her jaundice wasn't terribly bad, but the sun treatment sure did nip it quick. Of course, make sure its not frying (its in the triple digits here, but DD was an October baby so it was only 90*F lol). You can take a cool cloth with you and bathe your LO as you lay in the sun to avoid overheating.

I don't know much about the hip issue. I'm hoping that things work out for you. BIG T&P!

Good luck with your appointments! Are they checking his hips for hip dysplasia? DD had an ultrasound at 8 weeks because she was breech and she has hip dysplasia. She is in a pavlik harness and we go back to children's hospital in 2 weeks for another ultrasound and to see if there is any improvement.

My LO was looking a bit yellow at her 1 month appt. They had us get her levels rechecked and they were in the acceptable range. We just kept her in the sun a bit more. Sending thoughts and prayers that all is well with your little man!

Aww, sorry to hear that it was a rough appointment. I can't speak to the jaundice, but with the hips, my older dd had hip dysplasia and was a in a brace to correct for about 6 months. She is almost 9 and a gymnast and you would never know. This LO also had clicky hips and has a mild dysplasia, we go back for another ultrasound next weds to see if she will require bracing. You can feel free to pm me if you have any questions about the hips. Good luck with the jaundice, hope it resolves soon.......

I hate the harness, but dd does not seem bothered by it. I just feel terrible seeing her confined like this. She does get all excited when she gets to come out for a few minutes. She can be out for 1 hour a day, but that includes when I change her clothes and baths. I keep her in onsies so I can change the diaper with her in the harness. Are you swaddling him? The specialist at children's told me it is not good for her hips to be swaddled with straight legs. I bought the halo sleepsack with the swaddle arms because that was the recommendation on the hip dysplasia website. They also told me not to use a sling, but my ergo is fine. I cannot wait for her next appointment to see if she has any improvement. Hopefully your son does not have it, but at least it is treatable.
