Toddlers: 24 Months+

so many tantrums

I realize that this is a phase but seriously do NOT remember so many tantrums with DS (and he was and continues to be a challenging kid!). I think her vocab is not catching up to what she wants fast enough. She has a ton of words, can speak clearly and CAN say what she wants but gets so wrapped up in emotion that she resorts to screaming. I left her in the living room on the floor yesterday when she threw a doozy and she litterally went on for like 10 min. Transition time is the worst and we give her warning times (after X, we're going to take a bath; after Y, we're going to sit and eat breakfast). A battle of wills? Any good tips or tricks to get us through this time?

Re: so many tantrums

  • Ticker not working right for DD, she is 26 months.

  • Ten minutes, I'm jealous!

But seriously, as pp mentioned, a timer and choices seem to work really well.  "All right, DD we are leaving the park in one minute."  One minute is up, "Do you want to climb into the stroller or have mama put you in?"  "Do you want to sit down or have mama strap you in?"  "Do you want to go out this gate or that one?"
