repeatedly banging hand against highchair and floor

Just checking to see if anyone is seeing their LO wave/bang their arm/hand-  ours will bang his right hand up and down over and over again. He does this several times a day and not at any specific time either.  Am I the only one noticing this or is my LO the only one doing this?

Re: repeatedly banging hand against highchair and floor

  • It's pretty normal & nothing to be concerned about. They are just learning what they can do, what noises it makes and what reactions come from you

  • DD does this quite a bit. She likes to do it when she has toys in her hand, so it looks like she's slamming the toy, like "geez, what did poor Sophie the Giraffe do to you?" :) She also waves her arm up and down in the air and brushes it back and forth against the inside of her stroller. I agree with PP, I think they're just exploring what they can do.
  • Okay- thanks. We were beginning to wonder. Ours brushes hand against the stroller as well
  • Mine LOVES the noise her finger nails can make inside the stroller!  If you went from being a lump in the world to suddenly being able to move and make noises you'd be doing the same!!

I can't remember what I was saying the other day to my husband (likely commenting on how our daughter tries to do stomach crunches all day).  His response was, if you woke up and realized you could move your head around like an owl, you'd be spinning your head and looking backwards all day too.  So true!  It's all an exciting novelty to them!

  • DS2 is constantly smacking stuff. His feet, my knee, toys, his brother, my face, and in the bath he splashes so much and so hard I have to cover myself with a towel or get drenched. It's totally normal!
