anticipating The Bump

Im 9 weeks along and still no bump, however i am on the plump size weighing 140 before the pregnancy so not sure if this could be while i still havent had a "show" but im now a whopping 150 and I've been told by family twins might be expected. first prenatal Visit tomorrow so ill let everyone know of the 411!

I think 9w is still a little early for a bump. I could be wrong and I know everyone is different. I'm 10 weeks and no bump... Bloat yes, bump no.

I am wearing a pencil skirt today and I probably shouldn't be because I have a little bloat but I just hope I have a little bump by Christmas when I'll be around my family. It will probably be the only time I see them in person during my pregnancy since they live so far away.

I don't think anyone should take offense to someone saying that they look plump at 140. If she's really short and weighs 140 she could very well look plump, whereas a taller person at 140 will not look plump. Plumpness can't be determined by weight alone.

You're very right - I don't think any of us meant to be derisive or dismissive. I, personally, miss being 140 lbs.

Gaining 10 pounds does not mean you're having twins. Your family is mistaken.

9 weeks is generally too early to show, especially for a first pregnancy. The uterus isn't even above the pubic bone until 12 weeks. You're probably bloated.

I just like pointing out that some of us are miniature sized and it makes a big difference When I tell people how untall I am they sort of of just blink and I say "Yes, people do come in four foot lengths!" No one is ever prepared to hear anything shorter than 5' :-p

To the pp's talking about weight in relation to height; if you're going to give a [what a lot would consider average] weight to call plump, you might want to throw in your height if you're really short. I still think it's a bit douchey of the op to even throw out a weight in this scenario, because it's bound to hurt somebody's feelings. If the op had just said she was a little bit plump to begin with and then gained 10 lbs the point would have been communicated just as clearly, kwim?

I'm in the same boat, I'll see my family at Christmas and then probably not again until a few weeks before I'm due. Would be nice to show a little.

Although I do think that thinking you're having twins just because you've gained weight is silly, I also think it's about as silly for jumping on someone for saying they are plump at 140. Check a BMI chart, unless you're 5'4 and up 140 is considered overweight or sometimes obese if you're particularly short. If I was 140 at my height I would have 3 chins.

Part of my problem with saying plump at 140 is that there is no need to say the weight. Just say I was already plump and now I gained 10 lbs. Of course gaining 10 lbs automatically means twins at this point though, didn't you guys know that?

Heck yes! I looked like a goddess at 140. Too bad that will probably never, ever happen again.

Honestly though, what made me really raise my eyebrow was the "gaining 10 lbs=twinsies!!!!!" not the weight comment.

Never checked back into this post. I had my son may 14th ! And these sly comments are pretty rude for a place where everyone is suppose to help each other. Anyways, I am short. im 5'1 and 140 so I AM considered over weight. For those of you that are tall and are 140, I don't think WE'LL get along. Thanks for nothing MOMS! Geez. For all those who understood, thank you for not making me feel left out or the only one with a little common decency. I will no longer be posting anything if this is the type of responses I'm going to hear. Again thank you for making me feel welcomed. RANTING FOR A REASON!

Also, My family predicted someone was having twins. It ended up being my aunt 3 months later. This is why I believed I might have been having twins. And you tend to gain a little more wieght with boys. And I dont think im fat I was pregnant OF COURSE im going to gain wieght and im not going to complain about it ! assumptions are RUDE!!
