What a day...

So, today was my first day back at work after a week and a half off, and the first words from one of my coworkers were, "Wow, look at you - you've gotten fat!" I tried not to take too much offense, because she means well. She is a very skinny woman who struggles to gain weight, and where she comes from men prefer beefy ladies. When she tells me I'm fat, it's a compliment, but it still kinda stings my self esteem.

At the end of my shift, I walked down the street to my car in the parking lot, and some ass hat was hanging out in his car and yelled "MOO" at me. I looked at him just to see if he really was directing that at me, and he shouted, "Yeah I'm talking to you, you fat cow." Then he continued the conversation he was having on his phone and told the person on the other end that he'd just seen a "nasty fat f*ck".

I'm a little bit fluffy, I won't deny it, but that just wasn't something I needed to hear from a piece of shit. I forced myself to just drive away because if I'd confronted him, I would be in jail right now, and he would be in his grave.

I kept my cool for the drive home, but when my husband showered me with kisses and called me Beautiful (which is what he always does when I get home from work) I started crying like a crazy person. I told him what had happened and he told me not to worry because he loves me always no matter what. (He also asked me for the guy's license plate number and car description...) I don't know what I would do without him. I love my husband more than I can say.

Aww sweetie. Sorry you had a rough day. I would've gone over to the guy and pepper sprayed him. But that's me. I'm fluffy too and everyone in my family is thin so it's hard but I've learned to love myself. Good luck to you and try to ignore douche bags. ((Hugs))

i think i would have probably done something dangerous or illegal too if someone made comments like that to me in a parking lot. at the very least i would have taken a video of him and his car and posted it all over Facebook to shame him.

i'm so sorry that happened to you. you didn't deserve it, it ISN'T true, and some people really suck. he is a poor excuse for a human being!!

Thanks ladies. I used to have very low self esteem, but my husband makes me feel amazing. I'm not huge or anything, but I do have meat on my bones. I am horribly bloated and puffy, but I still don't think I deserved epithets. I love all of the love I get here!!

What a d*ck. Don't let people like that get to you, because it's not even about you, it's about them. I mean seriously, what kind of person does that? Someone who is an unhappy insecure loser obviously, people who are happy and feel good about themselves don't behave that way, period.

If someone ever called me a fat cow I would tell them they're no prize pig either!

And you are so good to remind yourself that the woman at work means well (cultural differences often cause offense unintentionally, but look at you being all smart and understanding!). But that dude in the car. Yeah wow. I would not have restrained myself.
Let that be a lesson to us all, though — you never know what a person is going through in his or her personal life, so really *think* about what you're saying before you say it. (Not that that would have helped that second asshole, clearly his thinker is broken.)

@CurlieWhirlie - precisely this. She is so sweet, and I adore her to bits. Since the day we met, she has said how she is envious of my curves. She wants to go back to Jamaica with more cushion for the pushin' because her husband doesn't want her to be skinny. She really doesn't want to hurt my feelings. Our culture has poisoned the image of my figure, while hers cherishes it.

I'm very close with two very thin women at work and when one of them puts on 2 pounds they celebrate which is very weird for some one who wears a size 18!
