  My reaction, also!!!!! I haven't heard of this!!!! Devastated...

  Yeah, it's the soft serve machine, if it's not cleaned well the tubes can harbor listeria.  Total bummer.

  I had skittles yesterday, I hate maple syrup, MH loves it though, and I too did not know about the soft serve thing. There goes DQ for the next 6 mos! Man, pregnancy is bullshit!

  Ewewewewewewwww. I'm the kind of person that tosses things that are probably perfectly fine just because they're past their sell by date. I won't eat leftovers more than two days old.
  
  Somehow, I never thought of cleaning soda or ice cream machines. Words cannot express how skeeved out I am right now.

  The best is in college when I would dispense OJ.  It was hit or miss on whether you'd get a few fruit flies or not... yummmm extra protein.

  Worked in a major chain restaurant that you've probably all eaten at, and had the stricktest cleanliness codes I'd ever seen, aced all our inspections, and I never once saw the lines to the machines cleaned. I took apart the nozzles and they soaked overnight every night but the lines from the syrup
  boxes to the actual dispenser? Nope, sorry. Given that coke can clean a car battery, I'd assume the concentrated stuff had to keep the lines pretty clean but even every night, it was a gross and sticky job. Also cleaned a soft serve machine - not pretty girls. Not pretty at all.
