How much do you pay for Daycare?

How much do you pay for daycare and what kind of daycare is it (center, home, nanny etc..)? I am thinking of offering to watch one or two kids between 12-24 months during the day, but I don't know how much to charge. My daughter would be the only other child here (16 months old). Should I supply lunch/snacks or would the parents bring that?

$135/week. That is for one child for 3 days a week. $45 a day. It is a daycare center for employees of the hospital I work for. He switches to the toddler room next month and I believe it will then be $43 a day.

I live just outside Boston and pay $275 a week for the infant program (it'll go down to $255 when she turns 15 months next week and moves up to Toddlers, woo!). That's full time in an accredited stand alone center. The big name chain center down the street wanted $440 a week for an infant!!!

I send my daughter to an in-home daycare. I provide the lunch, diapers, wipes, milk. She does buy some snacks for the kids (goldfish, etc). I pay $5 per hour. For me it turns out to be $45 a day.

Wow I knew we were in a low standard of living area but wow. I pay 3 an hour to a licensed daycare professional. She supplies food and only feeds organic dyefree. It's an in home daycare and there are between 3 to 12 kids there depending on the day. On days with so many she has help from another licensed professional that comes in. The children range in age from 3 months to 11 years right now.

We pay $225 a week full time for a licensed in-home day care. We provide diapers. This was one of the cheapest around in my area. I think it really depends on the going rate in your state or location. Can't really compare to some who live in HCL areas.

LO is starting daycare in august, it's 1300 per month and that includes snacks but not food, diapers or wipes etc.

Right now I pay my sister 900 per month to watch my son in her home. She is in school getting her childhood development associates degree and has over 15 years of experience working in licensed and accredited daycare centers and working as a licensed in-home provider. She's really watching my son as a favor to me more than anything. I provide his food, diapers, wipes and bought toys and equipment that she keeps in her home.

$290 a week for my infant. It goes to $275 a week for the toddler room starting in September. This is at a private daycare/preschool with accredited teachers. She will be there until she goes to kindergarten.

This includes all food(they have a chef that prepares home cooked meals) and diapers. The only thing I bring in besides personal items are wipes.

DS will be in the pre K room in the fall and it will be $245 a week.

I paid my nanny $14/hr in Chicago. Daycare facilities in the area ranged from $1600/mo to $2200/mo (all for infants). We are now in PA and are paying just under $1000/mo for a toddler in a daycare facility. Snacks are provided, but not lunch.

I live outside of Boston as well and checked with a few places and rates were in the $500's for the infant program (forget about in the city, that was like $2500-$2800 a month for Bright Horizons). Would you mind shooting me a personal message as to where you go? His grandma is watching him now but I would like him to interact more with other children at some point.

We pay our provider, who has been licensed and running her in-home daycare for 9 years, $265/week. She provides food and snacks. We provide milk. We provide pull ups (did provide diapers).

I would expect to pay less if she were unlicensed, less experienced, and watching her own children (under 12) while caring for mine, but you could charge more than just a run of the mill neighborhood babysitter if you're preparing all organic foods from scratch, willing to cloth diaper, get certified in Montessori or Reggio or one of those other specialized approaches, and take child development classes.

We paid $200/week for 30 hours in a center that supplied all food. They supplied diapers and wipes as well but we use cloth so we sent diapers with him every day.

we pay $10/hour for someone to come to us (and she brings her 2 older children with her). We provide the food, diapers, etc for our kids. She packs a cooler for her kids.

I pay a family friend $5/hour to watch my daughter. I provide her diapers and wipes and occasionally foods. She tends to prefer to feed her whatever they are eating and doesn't want extra payment for it. My daughter will be 2 in September. I teach part time so it ends up being about $125/week. We also pay her extra when I have staff meetings and conferences.

I do in-home child care. I am not licensed, but I'm a former preschool teacher with a BS in education and 2 kids of my own. I watch one child for a friend right now for $4/hr, about $35-40/day. They provide diapers, wipes, and milk, and pay me an extra $5ish a week to provide breakfast and lunch. They bring their child to my home, and she's pretty much like one of my own. I include her in all the activities we normally do - crafts, reading, playing outside, whatever.

In the DC area, we have an in-home licensed provider with a head-start type program ( I am completely at a loss for what she calls it. I need more coffee.). It's $200/week and we provide all meals/snacks/beverages. To us, it's the best of both worlds-he learns a lot from her and there are only 4 kids right now so he gets a lot of attention. It's also way less expensive than a lot of other places we considered, and only more expensive than one other center that we looked at.

I pay my nanny $16 an hour to watch my 14 month old twins in my home. She doesn't bring any children with her and we of course provide absolutely everything. We are in the Austin, TX area.

We would pay much less if it was someone else's home and they had their own children there as well.

I watch one child at my home pt and they pay me 5/hr. she is the only other child in addition to my own so it's not as crowded as a daycare. I know that in home daycare rates here (upstate ny) range from 150-175. I've seen people charge a lot less than that for unlicensed daycares. I guess what I charge would be considered high but I'm willing to keep her later in the evening and work with a pt schedule.

Sorry I keep adding... Make sure that you check your state licensing rules. I can have 2 unrelated child's ft and not be a "daycare". Any more than that and I need to be licensed. You don't want to run an illegal DC. If anything were to happen you could be a lot of trouble.

We live in the middle of nowhere, so I pay about $200 a month for a 3 YO and 13 MO to go to daycare full time (probably about 45-50 hr. a week each). They are all licensed, accredited, etc. My three year old has certified teachers in her room now teaching her just as you would at an actual preschool, but it's everyday. I love it! They also provide two snacks, lunch and drinks (even baby food and formula). But I also agree with PPs that you can't charge as a daycare, because you are talking about babysitting moreso.

We pay $100/week for one child, which includes everything except for diapers and formula/breastmilk. We have an amazing in-home daycare provider, who makes all meals from scratch and does tons of activities with the kids. Our provider is much more affordable than others in our area. They average $150/week.

$2200 / month. The area where I live (NYC/NJ metro area) is very expensive. I live on the Jersey side, so it is actually cheaper than what it costs in Manhattan. Crazy to think I am paying $26,000 a year for daycare.... but it is what it is.

We pay $222 a week for the toddler room. This is a center inside of the Medical center DH works at.

They provide Breakfast/lunch/Snack/Dinner, We work 11-730p so she always eats breakfast at home.

We pay 275 a week for 5 full days at a family daycare. We supply diapers/wipes and they actually supply all the food. It's great. They actually cook a full on lunch for the kids everyday (stews, lots of rice and chicken, pork etc). Usually breakfast is oatmeal or cereal and they also have a snack at 3pm too which is a variety of foods like goldfish, crackers, fruit etc. I love how they expose the kids to a variety of foods and it makes my life 10 times easier

I think it's very regional.

We paid $175 for 4 days a week (it is $200 for 5 days) at an in-home that provides breakfast, snacks, and lunch and all of the diapers needed. That makes it a lot easier for the parents...though if you're just watching one parent's kid(s), perhaps you can find out from them if they prefer to pay more and have food provided or pay less and bring their own food.

We pay $230 per week for 3 days a week at a Bright Horizons location in the Chicago suburbs. If we went full time, the price would be $309 per week. They provide table food (breakfast, lunch, and two snacks) and whole milk. We provide diapers, wipes, and any baby food/formula/breast milk.

I would expect to pay far less for a babysitter who watches a couple of kids in her home in addition to her own. A good friend of mine in the area has this arrangement and pays $100/week for full time care.
