April 2014 Moms

i have a big problem...

i put on SVU while i work in my studio, but i'm only a few episodes away from finishing the series (yes... 14 seasons...  i spend a LOT of time in my studio :) )

what series should i start next?  it has to be something that can be accessed via hulu plus OR amazon prime....  i don't have netflix.

i wouldn't want to start some new drama that i'd really want to pay attention to...  i need something a little fluffy that is based more on what you hear than what you see, as i usually have my nose buried in my projects.  HIMYM would be perfect, but i don't think it's available on anything but netflix :(

suggest away!

  • I really want to start News Room, it's supposed to be really good and funny. It is an HBO series (not sure if you can get it on your devices) staring Jeff Daniels. It's a comedy so you don't have to pay much attention.

  • Mad men, pretty little liars, bridezillas
  • Rules of Engagement if it's available. OMG Pretty Little Liars is my guilty pleasure ::hangs head in shame::

I'm not sure really. I have a hard time just listening to TV/movies. I need to watch the nonverbals.

Not sure if it meets the criteria but I'd bet you would get into any if them!

  • I love Gilmore girls too! Friends is also a great suggestion. We are currently watching The Shield. I've heard Suits and True Blood are pretty good too but not sure it will be available as they're pretty new..

  • I don't watch much TV but I absolutely looooooove Mad Men.

More importantly, I must know what kind of work you are doing in your studio. I am a painter... well was one and plan to be again. I haven't been good about finding time for my creative pursuits since I became pregnant with #1 several years ago.

  • I'm not a painter, though I can see why you'd think that! I own an Etsy shop but I can't talk about it on here lest I invite the flagging and flogging that would surely ensue :)

Cool! I mean the part about owning an Etsy shop. Not the part about flag-happy board police.

  • I wouldn't blame them if they did, though! It's a blatant violation of the terms of service so as much as I'd love to share my "other baby" with you all, I can't. Alas!
  • Dexter is good, but as some hard moments to watch with children in danger that, when I'm overly hormonal and emotional, I cannot watch. Be forewarned. I love Breaking Bad, but you need to pay attention to it. It's such a great show though, so it's pretty easy to give it your full attention.
  • I didn't see friends nor Gilmore girl on amazon =( I was looking forward to watching.. My name is Earl is on there.. It's a little quirky but I enjoyed watching, one day I was bored and clicked on it to check it out.. It's pretty good.. Friday night lights is also available on amazon.. It was a good series
  • The first two seasons of suits is on amazon.

    Ella - 10/19/10
    Julia and Aubrey - 4/3/14

  • Game of thrones is my fav but I thiks it`s better to see all the thing and not only hear.

@lilmama412 The Newsroom is definitely NOT a comedy. Amazing and Classic Aaron Sorkin...but not a comedy. And you definitely have to pay attention -- the dialog is plentiful and fast and all about serious current and political events from the last 3 years or so. I'd recommend it for sure (unless you're a staunch conservative...it definitely has a liberal bias)...but not as a background noise type show. Have you ever seen Happy Endings @spasticfantastic ? It has a Friends vibe to it and tons of hysterical one liners. Definitely a fun, fluff show.
My bad. I've heard from friends that it is a pretty funny show, so I just assumed it was a comedy. Come to think of the people I've heard it from are college friends who still sit around and get stoned and watch comedy central all day. That must be why I just assumed it was a comedy as most of them don't have the intelligence for a regular show :)

  • Pretty Little Liars for sure, True Blood, Gossip Girl, Friends, Private Practice, Greys Anatomy, Gilmore Girls is amazing

Understandable ;) There are some funny moments if you like poking fun at the Tea Party (I do), and there are some good one liners! It's definitely full of clever dialog.

  • Girlfriend, get a friend's Netflix login. For realie-reals. You can even make individual profiles on accounts now for separate queues and suggestions.

Then go watch HIMYM, Bones and OITNB.

True - I can even offer my other logins as a trade!!  Sic it to the streaming internet TV man!!  I do really want to watch HIMYM and that's the perfect show since I've seen enough of them to understand the characters well, but still probably have only seen about 10-15% of all of the shows.

@ColleenSwerb, it does stink...  and the CRAZY part is you all would love my stuff.  I make newborn photography props.  Aaaahhhhh!!  So frustrating  :(

  • The News Room, I don't know if you can get from those but it's an awesome show, it's snarky, political humor in it's very best form I love it.
  • I guess I missed the whole conversation about the newsroom, sorry. It's easy to keep up with if you pay attention to current events because it kind of follows real events in a "behind the scenes" type way. It is a serious show but the humor plays in well, if you're one of those severely pessimistic people like me who's constantly thinking of the next smart remark to make in any given conversation you'll love it.
