March 2014 Moms

~*~ PgAL Check-In ~*~

Good morning!

This is the weekly March '14 PgAL check-in. This is a place for anyone due March 2014 that has suffered a previous pregnancy loss, whether it was a chemical pregnancy or stillbirth. PgAL is an exciting but scary place so please feel free to share your thoughts, concerns, milestones and vents. Mostly, this check-in is to remind all of us that we are not alone in the journey and to offer support along the way. Check-in is every Friday.

I've tried to tag everyone on the list; I'm sorry if I missed anyone.

Special happy birthday shoutout to @htn1763 - hope you did something fun last weekend!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All PgAL ladies are welcome to join - if you're new please introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about you.
Re: ~*~ PgAL Check-In ~*~
  • What's everyone's fruit (or other fun comparison - still on the lookout for a pastry version) this week?  Lime!
    How are you feeling physically/emotionally?  Physicall I feel great, I am still very tired, but my MS is gone.  However I do feel pretty fat and ugly these days, but oh well.  Emotionally, I don't know.  I have great moments, and then I have moments where I really worry.  It's mostly when my cramps come back.  No matter how mild they are or how short they are, I still worry.
    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? I think a bunch of us had NT scans or appointments this week - how did everything go?  My NT scan is Sep 10, I am looking forward to seeing Boo again.  I am getting my cerclage put in on Sep 19th
    Any PgAL crazy you want to add?  I worry that EVERYTHING I do is hurting the baby...ie using my doppler every few days (still can't find the HB and I used it damn near everyday last time, so I'm not sure why I'm worried about it now) drinking too much pop/caffeine (even though I don't come close to the 200 mg limit).
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    QOTW: Does everyone here have a long weekend coming up for Labor Day? Wasn't sure if we had anyone outside the States on this list. Either way, any fun plans for the weekend?  Yes, so excited for a three day weekend.  Tomorrow is MHs birthday but he's doing man stuff with his dad.  My brother, his gf and I are checking out the new Cheesecake Factory for dinner tomorrow night.  Other than that probably just relaxing and a BBQ at my dad's on Monday.

    What's everyone's fruit (or other fun comparison - still on the lookout for a pastry version) this week?
    My baby is a gas cap this week!  (13 weeks today)

    How are you feeling physically/emotionally?

    I'm feeling fat and bloated.  My clothes don't fit any more so I'm going to go buy a few things this weekend but as I'm already a plus size person I am really not looking forward to it (due to lack of options for plus sizes - not that it's harder for me than 'normal' sizes ladies).

    We also announced the pregnancy to MH's parents who are really excited so that was a fun milestone - it's starting to feel more real every day.

    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? I think a bunch of us had NT scans or appointments this week - how did everything go?

    I got the call this past Monday on our Verifi results - everything is normal.  I was so relieved I cried a lot.  We also found out we're having a girl which was shocking to me - I was absolutely 100% positive it's a boy.  We also had our NT scan but they weren't able to get a good measurement due to her position - they offered another scan in a few days but we decided not to since the Verifi results were good.  It was pretty amazing to see her moving around in there - this is going to sound really dumb but I didn't know they could move already this early!

    Any PgAL crazy you want to add?

    A very close friend of my sister's who was due the same week as me had her NT scan and I don't know details but there were severe defects - referral to MFM resulted in "incompatible with life".  They had a D&C yesterday.  The PgAL crazy is that I can't stop thinking that my good news NT somehow robbed her of hers.  I just feel so bad  =/

    QOTW:  Does everyone here have a long weekend coming up for Labor Day? Wasn't sure if we had anyone outside the States on this list. Either way, any fun plans for the weekend?
    Planning to do as little as possible this weekend!  Going to do a little shopping for clothes - I keep getting coupons for sales so hopefully I'll find some deals.  Otherwise just relaxing in the AC.
  • What's everyone's fruit (or other fun comparison - still on the lookout for a pastry version) this week?

    11 weeks - Monday ill be twelve

    How are you feeling physically/emotionally?

    Migraines that last 2-3 days at a time. They are sending me to a neurologist for it. Emotionally pretty good- of course I'm always nervous but I'm starting to feel like this is really happening and everything is going to be ok.

    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? I think a bunch of us had NT scans or appointments this week - how did everything go?

    Had an US this week and LO was moving all around- first time I've cried. By the end if next week ill have my harmony test results back.

    Any PgAL crazy you want to add?

    Also, I checked out the link you gave for the baby size comparison - really funny. I love week 20. :)
    Week 20 made me sad actually - bras are on my list for this weekend because my boobs are completely ridiculous.  Pre-pregnancy I was a 40DD and I'm sure it's... good god I don't even know what it's going to be except that I'm going to be buying some from the ugly old lady bra rack and it's going to have at least 5 hooks. :(

    What's everyone's fruit (or other fun comparison - still on the lookout for a pastry version) this week? I am a prune this week which makes me giggle.  I am so excited that I made it to 10 weeks.

    How are you feeling physically/emotionally?  I am feeling pretty good this week.  I am still super tired and cry over movies, but overall good.

    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? I think a bunch of us had NT scans or appointments this week - how did everything go?  I am still waiting for my appointment.  It seems to be taking forever.

    Any PgAL crazy you want to add?  I am a little more forgetful now.  I forgot to put a spoon in my husband's lunch for his yogurt.  This caused a fun conversation when he got home from work.

    :)@ellajune2012 My edd is March 27.

    QOTW:  I don't have anything planned for this weekend.  I am hoping to just relax and finish getting the house in order before school starts for me on Tuesday.

    Edit: Updated information
  • I would like to be added to the PGAL list - my first pregnancy ended with a missed miscarriage last May and I have definitely had a lot of PGAL emotions.

    What's everyone's fruit (or other fun comparison - still on the lookout for a pastry version) this week?

    My fruit is a prune at 10 weeks and I am due 3/27 according to my initial us in July.

    How are you feeling physically/emotionally?

    Physically I am happy to say that the all day nausea is dying down.  I am looking forward to having more energy soon so I can cook and exercise!  I got the 'you can only gain 10-25 lbs' talk at the dr, so I need to get moving.

    Emotionally I am finally starting to feel like this is all real.  My husband is definitely getting more excited as well.

    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? I think a bunch of us had NT scans or appointments this week - how did everything go?

    I had my first dr appointment this week and it is a new office (H just retired from the military and this is my first non-military doc in 13 years).  She was very nice and when I talked about my mc and how nervous I had been all day she stopped her question list and took me straight to the ultrasound room.  It was great - the baby was spinning and moving like crazy but we were able to get a good picture and the heartbeat was 151.  Today I am going to schedule my NT scan.

    Any PgAL crazy you want to add?

    I am almost ready to pull out some of the stuff we had bought during our previous pregnancy even though I am sure I will cry when I do.
    QOTW:  Does everyone here have a long weekend coming up for Labor Day? Wasn't sure if we had anyone outside the States on this list. Either way, any fun plans for the weekend?

    I have a 3 day weekend that will hopefully involve some good cooking for the coming weeks.  Nothing huge planned, though my gym is having their one year anniversary bbq that I will go to on Sunday.  We have had some crazy rain and thunderstorms the past few days but the weather is looking better over the weekend.

  • Thanks for hosting this check in again!

    What's everyone's fruit (or other fun comparison - still on the lookout for a pastry version) this week? I don't know the fruit but I had a quick u/s yesterday (friend of a friend owns an elective place) and I measured 6.67 cm (2.63 inches).
    How are you feeling physically/emotionally? Good and good! Still taking one or two zofran a day, but throwing up has slowed down finally to about every other day. Zofran is finally helping the nausea. Still kinda constipated but a bit better there, and fatigue is improving a bit. I am waking up to pee a lot though so that's making me tired.Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? I think a bunch of us had NT scans or appointments this week - how did everything go? Had NT on Monday and it went great. Had elective yesterday and they think boy. I am measuring a couple days ahead, woo hoo. I find out  next friday (14 weeks and a couple days based on measurement) the gender for sure! Cant wait to buy some blue bubbles that I have in my shopping cart but won't buy yet.
    Any PgAL crazy you want to add? not this week! I am feeling great.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~QOTW:  Does everyone here have a long weekend coming up for Labor Day? I am going to Disneyland with two sorority sisters who are running the half marathon. I will be sleeping during the early morning part and then cheering them on at the end. And then doing the rides! Doc told me that the rides are honestly okay to do, can't wait!

    ~*~All AL Welcome~*~

    FOR A GOOD TIME: ****/post/150810/thread

  • New here, due date march 18. M/c (blighted ovum at 11 weeks last November). Our LO is a lime this week, having a BOY (finally got the panorama results back this week). The genetic screen came back clean also, but I'm still so afraid for him. I passed on the early u/s this time because of the horror of seeing the empty sac last time. Couldn't hear the heartbeat on Doppler at 9 weeks, next appointment is Wednesday.

    I do have a crazy obsession to share though: smoking is absolutely making me irrationally angry. People smoking in their cars, outside buildings (in designated smoking areas), especially the people who smoke right outside the door at restaurants... I seriously want to rip their heads off and can't figure out why. I don't like the smell (obviously), but it doesn't make me sick or anything. Also well-meaning people who google the answers to medical questions and post the "answers" they find on these boards. I think we can all work the google machine here... Some of the worst advice I've ever seen!!

    Sorry for the rant, I guess this is what they call "mood swings". :-)

    12w6d today and baby is in the plum category

    How are you feeling physically/emotionally?
    I am actually feeling pretty good physically. And emotionally, much better than last week and happy Sept is just about here.

    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? I think a bunch of us had NT scans or appointments this week - how did everything go?
    No appts until the 11th so just trucking along until then.

    Any PgAL crazy you want to add?
    Since I lost my daughter due to an incompetent cervix they are monitoring me very closely with weekly checks starting soon. As of now the plan is to monitor and only get a cerclage is my cervix starts to shorten. But now I am starting to stress myself out wondering I I should just go ahead and get a cerclage regardless of if my cervix shortens. I keep going back and forth and I just don't know. I plan to discuss it all with my OB on the 11th. I hate that I am always questioning everything I do or don't do.

    We are planning to get all the last things out of our hose we are selling and closing on next week. Other than that I plan to nap and just veg out most likely. We may go visit my ILs on Monday, they are two hours away.

    ETA: uh college football starts this weekend so there will lots of cheering and yelling while watching TV Saturday for sure. Go Ducks! :)

    How are you feeling physically/emotionally?  I'm feeling pretty good emotionally. Physically, I've been getting headaches daily, and it's really pissing me off. The random nausea is fine. Exhaustion is fine. But, when my head hurts all day long, I get cranky.

    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? I think a bunch of us had NT scans or appointments this week - how did everything go?  I went in yesterday to do my 1st tri blood draw and change my NT scan appointment. I originally scheduled it for 13w3d because my husband could go then, but he has a last minute work trip that week now. My new appointment is this coming Tuesday, 9/3. I'm excited to see the baby again very soon, but I'll only be 12w2d now, so I'll less hopeful that they'll give us a guess at the baby's sex. :(  I'm glad my husband can be there now, so I guess that's more important. :p

    Any PgAL crazy you want to add?  I'll still a little obsessed with my doppler, but it's getting better.

    QOTW:  Does everyone here have a long weekend coming up for Labor Day? Wasn't sure if we had anyone outside the States on this list. Either way, any fun plans for the weekend?  No exciting plans for us. We are homebodies though, so we'll probably just kick back and relax - watch some movies, play video games, eat food.
    Headaches has been a new symptom for me this week. I don't usually get them until later in the day, but they suck! I hope yours get better.  Good luck on Tuesday! Maybe they can still give you a good guess at the sex while you're there.

    ((hugs)) This is partially why I don't have a doppler - I feel like it would add to my worry instead of taking it away. All your symptoms sound perfectly normal, including the cramps. Though I know it's tough not to question everything.

    Have fun at the BBQ and at the Cheesecake Factory! If you like key lime pie, you have to try their key lime cheesecake. It's yummy!! Not as sweet as some of their other cakes.

    Planning to do as little as possible this weekend!  Going to do a little shopping for clothes - I keep getting coupons for sales so hopefully I'll find some deals.  Otherwise just relaxing in the AC.
    That weekly chart is hilarious!

    Good luck clothes shopping. I hope you find some cute things.

    That's awesome about the results and congrats on your girl!! I can't believe you can find out so early. When I had my scan on Monday, our little one was all over the place too and I could tell DH was surprised. Even though I knew they moved around, it's pretty amazing to actually see, isn't it?

    I am so, so sorry for your friend. I know it's hard not to go there, but please don't think your good news had anything to do with her bad news.

Then I work Sunday and Monday. Saturday I'm not sure what ill do.
    Ouch, I hope the neurologist can help you with your migraines! That does not sound pleasant at all. Yay for seeing your little one jumping around :)

    Have fun at the football game!

  • What's everyone's fruit (or other fun comparison - still on the lookout for a pastry version) this week?

    I'll add your EDD. Yay for being double digits!

    I'm forgetful even when I'm not pregnant, so I'm hoping that is one symptom that doesn't get worse.

    Do you teach or are you going to school? I work at a university and every Sept when I see the students back on campus I get all nostalgic about being in school again.

    Welcome! We can all relate to the crazy PgAL emotions. That's so awesome that your doctor took you to get a scan to reassure you. It must have been amazing to see that.

    Be kind to yourself when you decide to pull out the old stuff. I'm sure a lot of emotions will come up. Just remember that being excited and happy for this little one does not mean you're forgetting your previous loss. ((hugs))

    Hi!

    Are you allowed to do anything for the migraines? That sounds really sucky. I hope they start subsiding soon.

    I'm sure the "almost" bed rest gets old, but sometimes it's nice to be lazy :) ... hope you get to do something fun with your time, maybe catch up on some movies or books at least.

Wasn't sure if we had anyone outside the States on this list. Either way, any fun plans for the weekend? I don't have a 9-5 but as far as I know everyone has it off here. I am going to Disneyland with two sorority sisters who are running the half marathon. I will be sleeping during the early morning part and then cheering them on at the end. And then doing the rides! Doc told me that the rides are honestly okay to do, can't wait!

    That's awesome that you're starting to feel better. Hope it keeps getting better. And definitely keep us posted next week when you do find out the sex!

    Have fun this wekeend! As a (former) runner, I always appreciated the people cheering me on at races; it really does make all the difference. I hope the weather is great for all the runners and so you can go on the rides and have some fun.

    How are you feeling physically/emotionally?  Still really tired but now on occasional nausea!! :D

    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? I think a bunch of us had NT scans or appointments this week - how did everything go?  I had an u/s on Tuesday and it went very well! We got to see our LO wiggling around and kicking and I just couldn't hold back the tears!

    Any PgAL crazy you want to add?

    I missed a call from my ob's office today and they didn't leave a message.  When I called back they didn't know why I was called.  They had done blood work and took a urine sample for testing......just hoping everything is ok!

Either way, any fun plans for the weekend?  I'm looking forward to the longer weekend! I just plan on cleaning and doing stuff around the house! I haven't had time in a long time and need to clean my pit of a house! :D
    All the happy u/s updates are making me feel so warm and fuzzy.

    That's frustrating about the doctor's office, though I would imagine if it's something serious they would have left you a message asking to call back and also known what it was about. Maybe someone dialed your number by mistake?

    Yeah... I need to clean too. I've been so bad. I want to hire a cleaning person but I can't even do that because I'm too embarrassed to have someone come in until I do some 'pre-cleaning'

  • Just a few little clothing items that we had found for the baby.  The big thing is I think everything is in a bag together, which includes the journal that I did and the us picture they gave us after that horrible appointment. I honestly am not sure where it all is because I told my husband to basically hide everything and since I haven't seen it in over a year he did a pretty good job!

    Luckily most of the maternity clothes I had purchased had not been worn yet and the hubby returned everything for me.

    Thanks for all the support and encouragement to take things easy!

    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? I think a bunch of us had NT scans or appointments this week - how did everything go? I met my new OB for the first time on Wednesday and loved her! The office is very cozy and homey feeling, the staff are all friendly, and apparently my hospital has a brand new maternity wing.

    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? I think a bunch of us had NT scans or appointments this week - how did everything go? No appointment until the 11th, and no NT scan for me.

    Any PgAL crazy you want to add? I am so impatient to find out the sex - I'm contemplating going to an ultrasound place that says they can check for gender from 14 weeks onwards, but then I wonder if I'm being silly and should just wait till 18 weeks.

  •
    New here, due date march 18. :-)
    Hi Sara, welcome!

    Congrats on having a boy! I can't believe some of us are already finding out the sex. It seems so early. 9 weeks is early to find a heartbeat on dopppler, so fx that your next appointment you get to hear it and have some reassurance!

    I'm with you on the smoking. Normally I don't care so much but the smell is really bothering me now that I'm pregnant. I almost had to stop hanging out with a coworker when she picked up the habit again; fortunately it was short-lived and she quit.

    What's everyone's fruit (or other fun comparison - still on the lookout for a pastry version) this week?

    QOTW: Does everyone here have a long weekend coming up for Labor Day? Wasn't sure if we had anyone outside the States on this list. Either way, any fun plans for the weekend? We are planning to get all the last things out of our hose we are selling and closing on next week. Other than that I plan to nap and just veg out most likely. We may go visit my ILs on Monday, they are two hours away. ETA: uh college football starts this weekend so there will lots of cheering and yelling while watching TV Saturday for sure. Go Ducks! :)
    Hi Perky! Normally I love summer, but I'm glad September (and 2nd tri) is almost here too.

    Is there any downside to getting a cerclage as a preventative measure? This is a topic I really know nothing about. Seems like it might be worth it for peace of mind if there's no negative. I think the questioning just comes with being pgal. It sucks. I really envy the women who never have to think "what if?" during their pregnancies sometimes.

    Good luck with the house/moving! DH & I are starting to look at buying our first house but everything in the area is so damn expensive, part of me just wants to say screw it and let's stay in the apartment for a few more years. We have an office we can turn into a nursery. Plus I hate moving.

    Have fun this weekend!

  • What's everyone's fruit (or other fun comparison - still on the lookout for a pastry version) this week?

    Lime 11w 3d

    How are you feeling physically/emotionally?

    Physically I'm so freaking tired!! Emotionally I'm loosing it. I am so depressed lately about Arianna. I don't know what set it off but she is all I have been thinking about lately.

    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? I think a bunch of us had NT scans or appointments this week - how did everything go?

    No official appointments, just had my friend who works in ultrasound check on the lil one and watched it kick and punch and move everywhere like crazy! I have a drs appointment on Tuesday though.

    Any PgAL crazy you want to add?

    I was talking to dh about when to set everything up for this baby (things are still untouched of Arianna's) but putting up the bassinet and swing items. Or diaper shopping. If feel like I don't want to until little one is home.

    QOTW: Does everyone here have a long weekend coming up for Labor Day? Wasn't sure if we had anyone outside the States on this list. Either way, any fun plans for the weekend?

    I have to work all weekend including Labor Day. But I did take off the first part of my shift on sat so I can bring my oldest dd to her horse show! Please wish her good luck! She hasn't shown since I got pregnant with Arianna.

    We wanted to head to Florida for the weekend but decided to stay home hang by the pool, have a cookout or two, possibly a bonfire, and go to the fair. I hope everyone has a great weekend :D

    Every time I see your fruit update I think of this sign we used to drive by on our way to Florida:
    image
    I'm so sorry about the stress.... depression is so tricky because it's not necessarily tied to something bad going on. And then feeling like you "shouldn't" be feeling it only makes it worse. Your feelings are what they are, you know? Have you tried doing any yoga or anything like that? I always seems to be better able to deal with life when I'm regularly practicing yoga or doing something active.

    I'm fortunate enough to work at a hospital so I have been able to take weekly sneak peaks just to make sure that little heart is beating and "Gizmo" is growing!

    How are you feeling physically/emotionally? Pretty good! I'm feeling like my normal, 2nd tri self.

    Any PgAL crazy you want to add? I feel like I'm going a little nuts anticipating feeling the baby's movement, lol.

    That's awesome that you feel great and like your OB! Very important :)

    I didn't know Canada had the same day off for LaboUr Day :D I learn something new everyday on these boards. I'm still blown away that your Smarties candies =/= what I think of as Smarties.

    How are you feeling physically/emotionally? Shitty!!! I think I'm in a bit of a depression, I still have a sinus infection, I'm tired all the time, I am nauseated most days, and my head hurts constantly.

    Ugh, sorry you're feeling so shitty. I hope it gets better soon. Maybe the retail therapy this weekend will help a little ;)

    I love the sneak peaks ;) I have to get my friend a gift for her calming me down all the time and showing me the heartbeat and baby moving on the ultrasound machine about every other week. They are just for a min though. Ugh I wish I could look everyday!
