With my birthdaughter, I worked up until I went into labor. However, I now live elsewhere and have a 2-hour commute (each way). I already work from home a couple of days a week, so toward the end I might just transition to working from home the last couple of weeks; I really don't want to be sitting in traffic and going into labor.
That being said, when I was pg with birthdaughter, I had a complication that is 70-90% likely to happen in subsequent pregnancies (called cholestasis of pregnancy), which would require me to be induced around 36-37 weeks. So, in the likely chance that I have the condition again ( ), I will probably already know around that time that I'm going to be induced, and I'll schedule my leave right before that day.
I also had Cholestasis with my first. But they called me away from work and told me to get to the hospital - NOW. Because of the high recurrence rate, I don't know what to do? I'd hate to leave on zero notice but I don't want to bet on having something going wrong, leave at 35 weeks and then be fine. It's tricky.
I plan on working as long as I can, I work exclusively from home (except for a few trips a year- which will be over with end of november). So I should have any troubles. I can even work from bed rest if that happens. I have yet to nail down maternity policy for work yet (small company and has been slammed so trying to ask once this month is over)
After 6 weeks or so I hope to start back to work part time and get my mom to come help with in home care for me.
Last time I stopped working a week before my due date. I was due May 24, didn't work the week of May 16 and ended up having DS on May 19. We were in the process of moving at the time though so I wanted to get things ready at the house. This time around, ideally I'll work up until I go into labor. However, last time I was very uncomfortable and didn't want to work anymore toward the end. So we'll see what happens!
I'm a SAHM now but with DS I worked until I went into labor. I went to work on my due date, worked my full 8 hours, came home and my water broke at midnight that night. I worked customer service at a bank, so it was mostly a desk job.
With DD, I took off the week before my due date to make the transition for my substitute (I'm a teacher) easier. This year I'm feeling a little wild and thinking of seeing if I can take the whole second semester (it'd be unpaid mostly) off. It wouldn't be for health reasons - I just think it might be nice to take some time with my daughter before things get wild.
Around 35- 36 weeks I think . I have a very physically demanding job. I worked till 36 with my first and that was hard. I'm Canadian so I get a year off and I just take short term disability before I deliver

I worked until I couldn't anymore...which (due to high BP) was at 38 weeks. I wanted to work as long as possible....but it was nice being off the week before he was born.
I would like to work until I go into labor, but I don't know if that will be practical. I think a lot of it depends on your job. I am an assistant manager for a retail store, and quite frequently, I am the only manager on duty. It's something I will have to discuss with my store manager once the time comes closer--I would hate to go into labor while at work and have to wait for someone to get there to take over the store from me, and I know they wouldn't want that to happen to me either!

Up until the day I go into labor/RCS. I teach third grade and it was totally fine last time.
