Registering for baby shower

Has anyone started a registry yet? Does anyone know when to start. I have been checking out some products online and in store but I'm not sure if its too early to register. I'm 12 1/2 weeks.

I have been doing the same. To be honest I think one should wait til about 5-6 months because when my cousin did a registry at 12 weeks by the time her baby shower came around alot of the products were sold out or on clearance. I was just doing some pricing and deciding what I would put on there.

I have a wish list on amazon so I can remember product recommendations etc. I won't do an actual registry until I'm further along.

Too early, depending on the store some stuff might not be in stock and/or discontinued by the time people are ready to buy. I've pinned a few things to pinterest so I'll remember, but I wouldn't recommend registering until at least 20 weeks or more. Besides it's more fun when you at least look pregnant

I started a Target registry but just to keep track of things I want and for the completion discount. I fully expect things to be out of stock etc but its just for my own personal use. I won't be having a shower.

Yeah I have started pinning to Pinterest and looking up reviews of some things like car seats and strollers and such online. I figured it was better to wait but I read something online today that suggested starting at 12 weeks. I thought that sounded kinda early. Thanks ladies!

I just started my registry yesterday! I don't know the gender of the baby's yet, but that kind of stuff is easy to change!

We've started. Baby shower invites go out just before thanksgiving and I dont want to be rushed when that time comes. I've been researching everything and adding what I like. Found a few things that I love and must have! Tonight we are going to babies r us. Hubs has never been there. We want a hands on look at things. Should be a fun date night at the baby store!

I haven't yet but my friend (due Jan '14) did recently at BuyBuyBaby. She had one of the employees walk around with her and her DH and they said it was the best thing ever! She said it was so overwhelming along and the help wasn't pushy at all, just there for guidance!
I plan to do this in a month or 2!

ALSO - some furniture takes months to come in!!!! Hers is taking 3 months!! It might be something to look into if you're thinking of waiting until 5-6 months!

Somewhat related to this - I got a baby shower invite the other day and looked at their registries and it got me poking around to a few others and now I feel overwhelmed.

Each of the people I looked at had registered at 2-3 different stores with a total of 400-500 total items! I have a list of stuff on Amazon just to keep track of what I think I need/want and there's a total of 49 things on there. I thought I was done! Is it normal to have 500 thing on your registry? Do people really get 500 things for their kid right out of the gate? I don't even know where I'd put 500 things...

We didn't find out the gender, but I registered after the AS, just to be sure all was well with the baby
