I know nothing really about the Miley Cyrus fiasco other than pics I have seen on FB or what the lyrics of the song are truly about but I remember this little song called "Sex Type Thing" by Stone Temple Pilots back in the day which kinda sounds like what u guys are talking about. I don't remember a hubbub about that. Does anyone remember?
Edit: Btw it was an awesome song
Very familiar with the song, and it never even occurred to me that it was about rape. I did just google it though, and Weiland says that it's actually an anti-date rape song.
It never occurred to me that it was about anything other than date rape, what with the lines "You wouldn't want me to have to hurt you, too" and "You shouldn't have worn that dress." But it also never occurred to me that something that was spoken of as so blatantly awful ("You wanna know about atrocity") was NOT being implicitly condemned. By contrast, Blurred Lines involves a very similar line ("I know you want it" over and over) to Sex Type Thing ("I know you want what's on my mind") only in a very different way.
Basically, it's all in the way it's presented. Try listening to NIN's Big Man With A Gun and seeing it as anything other than a condemnation of violence, sexual and otherwise.
Wanna know a date rape song? "Baby it's cold outside" I love Christmas music, but that song is sketchy as hell

Get out of my head! I was thinking the very same this morning. "say whats in this drink?" Don't ask me why I was thinking about that song this morning, I have no good answe for that.

Seriously with "baby it's cold outside", I am with you @nryan! I call it the date rape song too! Awful! I keep waiting for him to sing about her being a tease and giving him blue balls and how that can hurt so bad that she owes him at least a hand job to fix it. Maybe that's the 3rd verse....
This goes along with the whole comedy theme for today. When that creepy old man on the show makes child molestation jokes it makes my blood boil. And for this reason, I think Seth Macfarlane is the scum of the earth. Child abuse ruins people's lives and is nothing to make light of.
My UO is I absolutely despise Family Guy.

I hate that show, too. I leave the room if H is watching it.
I am lucky enough to CURRENTLY be surrounded by smart, strong women. I went to a "women in the navy seminar" and realized how ashamed I am of these women. Their focus is men and sex... And bad mouthing other women. So my unpopular opinion is women are the weaker sex, and it's all our fault... Although being on the bump shows that too. Just constant hating on women.

I think you meant to post this in April2014's UO post...

I'm late to the party. Got trapped in A14s uo pit.
My UO; I think naked baby pictures, I mean completely naked, should not be on public forums, facebook or anywhere publicly displayed. I have seen way too many naked baby in the bathtub photos for my sanity. Oh, naked baby pictures of your two year old, should not be on the internet. I have a facebook friend who recently posted photos of her two yr old daughter w/o a shirt on and it sets me off. Knowing just about anyone can see those skeevs me out.
If you have those photos at home in a baby nook or something, fine. But publicly displayed/posted on the internet, oh hell no.
Similarly, people who use their facebook friends to diagnose random ailments or "does this rash/cut/mark/etc look funny" piss me off. Esp if it is their child. Call your doc people.
Re: ~~~Unpopular Opinions~~~
I DO NOT find the SNL cowbell sketch funny. At all.
Said it. Meant it. Owned it.
