April 2014 Moms

2+ Mommas

What's your favorite bottle brand or do you strictly give them the ta ta? My nipples are considered too short which rules out breast feeding. I tried pumping with my first but it takes forever to produce an ounce. My favorite bottle brand is hands down Avent :) easy to clean, easy for them to start holding at 6 months.

Re: 2+ Mommas

  • I use breastflow bottles
  • Loading the player...
  • I had to oump with DD bc no one helped me learn to nurse and she wouldn't latch... so ill be trying again
  • I'd love to breast feed but its just not really an option. I might try again but it gets frustrating.

DS took Tommee Tippee and I loved them.

DD didn't take a bottle until 6 months. She absolutely refused every bottle we tried. We tried TT, Avent, Dr. Brown's, Born Free, etc. After about 6 months she started taking the Playtex drop-ins and I hate those bottles.

ETA: she never took a bottle from me. She was straight up breast if I was home.

  • DD was super picky and would only take Nuk bottles. So I have a ton of them now. So hopefully this baby likes them too.

  • I gave all my baby stuff and maternity clothes away. I don't like clutter, so lets just say I take a trip to good will every three months.
  • Tommee Tipee. I like to hand wash all bottles and they have fewer parts. Plus shaped like a boob. We also stayed with the newborn nipples the whole time until DS went to a sippy, though he was an excellent sucker from BFing.

  • We used the medela bottles that came with my pump.  My DD went on a huge bottle strike when I went back to work so we offered a bottle a day to my DS from day 3 on.

  • We started with Avent, but then switched to Dr. Browns cause of gas issue.  I think we'll start with Avent again though.  For those of you who use Avent, do you use the classic or the newer natural bottles (I used the classic).
  • We used born free after she wanted nothing to do with the medela ones that came with my pump. They have a few extra parts which makes them a pain to wash, but she was a fan. She also switched bottle/boob no problem.

  • I prefer classic. I use a bottle sterilizer and the soft plastic ones get deformed. The hard plastic ones are super easy to clean and last forever.
  • We used Tomme Tipee and really liked them :)

  • I had great hopes for Tommee Tippee bottles, but they didn't connect to my pump, and I refused to waste an extra bottle and pour from one to another.

My son wasn't picky... we used regular Medela bottles or Playtex cheapos ($5 for a 3 pack at Walmart!) and he was fine with both (and both brands screwed directly onto my pump, which was crucial!)
  • When DD was itsy she would take a bottle fine (ish) (but not from me) -- we used Dr Browns. Once she hit 3 mo and became more aware, she was a boob only girl. We tried Avent, Breastflow, Born Free, the Medela bottles that came with the pump. Eventually she would take the Avent if the stars totally aligned.

  • I'm actually looking at Avent bottles for #2. I exclusively nursed DD, which was fine, as I'm a SAHM right now. I didn't respond well to the manual pump, she hated the dr. Brown's bottles (which I thought were a PITA anyway, with all the parts), and I never pursued it past that since it was easier/faster to nurse. However, I'll be in school full time with #2, so I'll be investing in a good electric pump and different bottles.

  • My sons weren't picky either just always hungry. Lol
  • I always hated pumping -- it took forever to get much out of me, too! Ever tried a nipple guard? That really helped my little one latch on.
  • Yes, I've tried it all :(
  • We used Dr. Brown's and Lifehouse because they're both glass. Agree that washing Dr. Brown's is annoying. Lifehouse is the same company that makes those cute glass water bottles with colorful silicone sleeves.
  • Dr. Browns b/c of DD gas but agree they suck to wash!!

  • I love Dr browns, we had zero issues with leaking.
  • DS #2 was an Avent baby.. Never had a problem with them! Sticking with them this time around!

  • I used he playtex drop-ins with both kids but they both preferred the clear nipples. Both were also breastfed.
