Is it weird that I have no idea? I assume that I'm on a good track but I don't know where I started really or where I am now. They get me on and off that scale so fast I can't even see it. I'm guessing if I were too high/low they would tell me...

I'm holding strong at 20.5 pounds. My belly is definitely getting larger though so I am slightly perplexed by the number but I weigh myself 2-3 times a week since at my last appointment my dr attempted ripping me apart for the weight gain. I saw myself naked the other day in the mirror, something I tend to avoid, and I started laughing at how I looked. My body is just so amazing to me right now.
Also, I think it's kinda funny (in a sad way?) we all came in here to talk about 15-35 pounds as a "ton" of weight. Don't you lose like the first 20 pounds in the hospital delivering/post-delivery anyway? Or is that more "What to Expect" propaganda?
I know everyone's different and won't have the exact same experience, and that you hear this to the point of it being cliche, but two words - BREAST FEEDING.
If you're willing and able, it helps soooooo much. I did it for 13 months and ended up 10 lbs under my pre-preg weight. No exercise (no time) and no special dieting other than general healthful eating.

Some perspective. Here's my last pic with DS at 36 weeks (went into labor 39 weeks, 6 days) and up a WHOPPING 60 pounds. I pray that doesn't happen this time.
You must have been really thin pre-preg if that's you at +60 pounds. You look great in this pic!
And I agree with North. Top-notch dog photobomb.
Thanks! Although I feel like it's just a good angle..doesn't show the glory of my 60 lb gain lol
I was up 27lbs at 20 weeks. I'm sure I'm 30+ by now (23 weeks tomorrow). This is the least amount of weight I've ever gained in a pregnancy (at this point). My doc has never said anything about it.
8-9 pounds here at 24 weeks, I'm only suppose to gain 15 cause I was really overweight to begin with. I look at it like this, as long as I'm healthy and the baby is healthy and I do not gain more then 20 I do not give one damn. I have no signs of GD, my blood pressure is awesome actually its better then it has been in years. I do not eat crap food all the time, I eat mostly fruit and vegetables. I think the stigmata they put on weight gain during pregnancy causes more of a harm then a good.

Similar here. I was 64lbs at 34 weeks. DD was born 1 week later. Second pregnancy I only gained 52lbs at 38 weeks. We'll see this time.
I'm st 20 pounds for 23 weeks. My DH is really sweet, but I'm about to blow past his weight here soon which is just annoying haha. It doesn't help that we are both tall - I just feel like a tall whale! BUT I know that my baby boy is growing and healthy so that is what I keep telling myself
Every pregnant body is different, some gain none to very little some gain medium and some gain alot. I have gained most of those 8 pounds in my arms , but its ok cause I know I will work hard to lose weight when the baby comes
I'm hovering around 17 so far, but with my last pregnancy I gained 55 pounds (122 pp to 177). Whoa. My DH weighs about 170 so when I was heaver than him, he started mocking me.
If mine does this, his gravestone someday will read "Once Made Fun of Wife's Weight; Never Heard the End of It."
Seriously. Is he TRYING to get curb-stomped?
Yeah, he's got a sadistic sense of humor. Don't worry - three "I'm overdue and dying," meltdowns later, he was singing a different tune...
I'm at 35# at 25w. Holy hell do I feel huge! My SO says I don't look like I've gained that much weight but I have a sneaking suspicion that he's being nice.

I"m between 20-25lbs. I was really hoping to only gain 25-30 this pregnancy. I gained 50 with my DD and it took almost 2 years to get it all off, apparently I don't shed weight very fast. Hopefully I can reign it in here the next few weeks. The weather has cooled off so I can start walking again, I think that was a major contributing factor because first tri I only gained like 2 lbs.
Here's my problem though, I never lost all the weight from DS, no matter how hard I tried. That's when I got diagnosed with PCOS. We started fertility treatments and I gained 40 lbs because they also had me on steroids and wouldn't let me work out at all. When we stopped treatments I got off the steroids and worked out again and lost 20 of it. Then I got pregnant with this one. So I started this one 22 lbs heavier than my pre-pregnancy weight with DS.
Suffice to say, I hate all these "I've gained 1 lb post" I think we have a few girls here who are truly struggling to gain but I think most of them are just "Ooo look at me. I've barely gained anything" Shut it and eat more.
My weight gain compared to my last two pregnancies is way ahead It definitely bums me out. I'm still working out a ton (5 days/week or more) and watch what I eat, I don't count calories every day, but when I do I honestly don't even come close to 2000 calories/day. So between the working out and eating healthy/not overeating, I have no idea where the weight gain is coming from and it's really frustrating me that I can't get it under control.
I really, really suck at dieting, so that's why I try to keep my weight gain within the normal range during pregnancy because I know I won't lose much afterwards. I'm getting so irritated seeing all these posts like 'I can't gain weight!' - it's nice to see that not EVERYONE but me is in that boat.
FWIW, both pregnancies I had 8 lbs babies and came home weighing the same as when I went in. It sucked, but after a few days you start peeing and sweating like nobody's business and the lbs of water weight do start coming off. After a few weeks though it went back to a standstill and from there I had to work at it (or not in the case of my 2nd).
I don't know how much I've gained but I know I'm in this club. How do I know? The last time I got on top, Dh groaned, "Oh God" and not in the sexy way. :-S
I don't have a scale at home but as of my last appt. on 8/7, I gained 16 pounds. 10 of that was gained during the four weeks leading up to that appt. I really hope I don't have another 10 pound weight gain showing at my appt. next Wed. FX.
I don't know how much I have gained but last time with DS it was close to 60 total (he was over 9 pounds) - ughhh... and I had GD and was so so careful about everything I ate - I really didn't deserve that gain. I lost it all but about 5-8 lbs - so I went into this pregnancy a little heavier. I wish I could wear skinny jeans while pregnant and look cute but I'm short and that is not in my cards.
I really loved this post - I feel like there are always posts about people who aren't gaining any weight -and well for most of us that is not the case.
For those that are FTM - you will feel terrible after the baby because you aren't pregnant - but you are still fat and nothing fits - it takes time - but you do get back to your normal self - or something close to your pre-pregnancy self. I would say it was closer to 6-8 months after baby that I really started feeling more like myself.
I was up 20 lbs as of 2 1/2 weeks ago. I'm not worried about it since I started out at 11% body fat, I've still got 20 lbs to go to catch up to SO so as long as I don't end this weighing more than him... I'm alright bc I'll be having this kid around 37 weeks if my body follows history of my previous two and I don't think I could gain that much in 10 weeks.
Also, I think it's kinda funny (in a sad way?) we all came in here to talk about 15-35 pounds as a "ton" of weight. Don't you lose like the first 20 pounds in the hospital delivering/post-delivery anyway? Or is that more "What to Expect" propaganda?
I sincerely hope you're right. I have no experience but after my m/c, I had gained about 15 pounds at 18 weeks and I lost about 5 or 6 after I came home from the hospital, and then lost a pound day for the next 3 or 4 days. Then the last 5 kinda stuck around. ">
Depends. But for me it was a total sham. I left the hospital with a 7lb baby and weighing the same thing as I did when I came in. Too much fluids from my induction.
Yes! With DS he weighed 7lbs 7oz, and I came home just 7lbs less. I was like ummmm the baby was more than that! I too was induced, so had to have been the fluids. But I still wasn't happy to see it.
Weeelllll.... It appears that I gained 10lbs this past month. 10+ 10 (last month calc from pre-pregnancy weight)+ 10 lost due to m/s.... Nahhhh .... "did I REALLY gain 10lbs last month?" I asked my doctor. "You might have.... But I'm not worried," she said. I love her.

Yup, they pumped me so full of IV fluids with both my boys I looked huge and swollen. I had the worst fat face ever after I delivered my second! Fortunately with continued 24/7 peeing, breastfeeding and exhaustion I dropped most of it within the first week.
I've gained about 25lbs already and I'm pretty bummed about it. My dr isn't concerned, but we did talk about trying to exercise more at my last appointment. I haven't been eating junk like fast food at all - I eat mostly healthy, whole foods, I just eat too much. And have a bad sweet tooth!
I am concerned about how successful I'll be at losing the weight too... especially with a FT job and 2 small kids.
AND I read an article at the dr's office yesterday that said they'd found that babies of overweight mothers were BORN with hardening of the aorta already. I totally cried in the exam room! Here's to more lean meats (dr said protein at.every.meal), veggies and long walks!!
So my weight gain is fine so far, but what I find depressing is that this morning I weighed exactly what I weighed with DD at 40 weeks. lol I started off this pregnancy a little higher, but only 4-5lbs. And I gained very little with DD, but it was still rather depressing to see.
The way I see it, I've got the rest of my life to be skinny. The only thing that bothers me is the chub rub - my thighs try to eat my shorts. Fwiw, i easily lost the weight with my previous pregnancies by breast feeding alone. Even ended up a little underweight.
I weighed myself this morning and I'm 11lbs over where I started. I'm 24 weeks and 2 days.
I haven't really changed much other than taking my vitamins, eating a fiber chew, and drinking milk (something I NEVER did before - but now I crave it 24/7). I used to Crossfit, but haven't done any exercise since conceiving (primarily because up until last week I was still getting sick almost daily). And now that I've said that, obviously when you don't feel good you don't have an appetite... which prob accounts for my lower gain. I wonder if now that I've "turned the corner" with the nausea and vomiting if I'll gain at a faster rate... Hmmm...
I have also noticed that my muscles are less tight and more squishy. I can't wait to work out like I used to so I can get rid of that look. I've also decided that I'm going to concentrate on my arms since we have four weddings coming up back to back in Sept/October that are all black tie. I'm happy to be wearing a long dress, but it means I need to shape up those arms!! And hopefully my bellybutton won't stick out of my dress a whole lot... Eeek!
I love her.
I gained 11 pounds in one month of pregnancy with DS1. My OB looked at my gain chart and said, "You had a really good month!" I was loling....
What's the most anyone's gained between appointments/in one month?
I was up 17 lbs at my 20 week appt. I seem to be on the same track I was with DD. I gained about 35 lbs total with her, so I'm figuring that it'll be the same with this one. Seems I tend to gain more in the 1st half of the pregnancy and then things slow down some in the home stretch. Last time my doc commented on it, but she hasn't said anything this time so far so I figure I'm okay.
I hadn't gained much of anything until my 20 week appointment and it showed about 11 lbs. I don't weight myself at home so when I went in for my 24 week appointment and it showed a 17 lb gain I was a little worried! At this rate I'll get exponentially huger. I'm convinced that I was overeating on purpose to grow my bump. Since my last appointment I'm trying to eat healthier (not less) and even throwing in a little pregnancy pilates and elliptical workouts. We'll see what the scale says at my next appointment!
I LOVE this post BTW. My sister-in-law has a huge bump and keeps bragging that she hasn't gained a lb. I keep thinking, is that something to brag about? It makes me overthink my weight gain... Just remember your body is going to do what it will and just be happy we have healthy babies in there growing big and strong!
I've got you all beat at 35# at 25w. Holy hell do I feel huge! My SO says I don't look like I've gained that much weight but I have a sneaking suspicion that he's being nice.
I'm right there with you.... I've gained 32 at 25w. I have no excuse other than I couldn't work out much during 1st tri because of cramping, and i need to lay off the brownies ">

As an extra special kick in the vag, I took a health assessment screening yesterday at work in order to get a discount on my insurance premiums.
The results came back today and they're BAD. Basically the report says I'm a fat unhealthy fatty who's going to die of heart disease.
