Since most of us are starting to get cervical checks (I'm assuming since I am due at the end of the month and just started mine), lets do a little poll:

Soft but no dilation
I'm frustrated that all my cramps and contractions haven't been doing more, but, my mom (birth photographer and sitter for our girls during our hospital stay) had a rough month and just ran out if her pain meds early. She won't get any more for a week and will be really sick for the next week, so ill take a little reassurance that it doesn't appear we'll go into labor before she gets a refill!
How many weeks are you? 39w2d
Cervix status at last check? Today still closed up tight. No dilation and no effacement.
How are you feeling about it? Asked doc when we start talking induction. She said we can any time I'm ready. I decided I don't mind going to 41 weeks but don't want to go to 42, so we'll keep checking the next two weeks and if no progress we'll start the induction process.

I couldn' t careless but just curious if the contractions I feel are doing their job and they are apparently.

How are you feeling about it? frustrated, impatient, but not terribly surprised.

yesterday I was 2 cm dilated, "starting to efface", baby is head down, but hasn't dropped yet
No feelings about it, just don't want her to ever do that again!!!
Cervix status at last check? Soft and thinning, no dilation yet. Baby is low and engaged.
How are you feeling about it? Good! I'm glad something is going on down there. I can breathe a little easier too so that's been nice!

1 cm and 60% as of 8 days ago.
I have contractions that don't do anything and if my cervix had changed at all after 30 hours of contractions, I would already have a baby! So frustrating, but I'm on the countdown now! RCS Thursday at 1:30!!!
My OB won't check for dilation until 38 weeks.
Since dilation doesn't mean too much I'm not stressing about it.....I figured when she's ready it will just happen.
At my appointment last week I was 1 cm dilated and very soft. My doctor also said her head was so low that it felt like she was going to fall right out.
I know it doesn't mean much so I'm trying not to get too excited but the fact that my doctor suspects she might make an early arrival has got me anxious!
I was checked at 31 weeks in the hospital when they stopped my preterm labor. I was 100% effaced and a fingertip dilated. However three days later I had my third tri ultrasound so they checked my cervix and found it long and closed. Haven't been checked since but have had constant braxton hicks (averages every 5-10 minutes most days due to irritable uterus) and a few episodes of painful contractions for 1.5-2 hours.
On the one hand I'm curious to see if I'm actually dilated now. On the other hand, what difference does it make? At this point I'm just waiting for my water to break or for bleeding to let me know I'm close...
Cervix status at last check? Had a false alarm at 37 weeks and was checked. 2cm dilated and 50% Effaced. Have not been checked since because I don't want false hope.
How are you feeling about it? Pretty good. Midwife doesn't check until due date, which is in one week. I have a feeling though I am going to be overdue. Trying to get into that mindset and keep busy.
Last check was this afternoon and I am at 3cm and 70% thinned.
Feel a little frustrated after a bout of false labor over the weekend. Because of my age she wants to induce this coming Tuesday so at least there is an end date in sight and I won't just hopelessly walk around wondering when...sighhh.
At the same time I want him to cook as long as he needs to.
Cervix status at last check? Monday last week. 1 cm dilated 80% effaced. Next check tomorrow.
How are you feeling about it? I feel eh. It could mean nothing and I could walk around past EDD like this. On the other hand if I am making progress, that's great! I am interested to see if there is much progress from last week, tomorrow.
First check on Monday due to fears of ptl. 1 cm and 80%. Baby's head at 0 station.
At first a little alarmed bc those were the same numbers I got less than 48 hrs before DS was born. But then midwife pointed out that I could have been like that for weeks before the check and just progressed quickly from there. So, still hoping to make it to at least 37 weeks! Almost there!
