When we got home from our friend's house last night, we were going to watch our earlier recording of Dexter. Our middle furchild, Daisy, was on top of the armoire, and DH went to open the doors of the armoire so we could watch the tv. Well, when DH opened the doors, Daisy went to jump from her original spot on top of the armoire to our bookshelves,
slipped off the tv armoire and landed on the wicker/rot iron stand. Her
foot got caught in the curled foot part of the stand, and she dragged
that across the living room running. Her leg was really twisted/mangled in the
foot of the stand. When I was trying to help her get her foot out (by this time she was wedged between the couch and chair, she bit two of my fingers (almost biting the nail off of my right ring finger). She finally got loose, and I ran to the bathroom (sobbing) to clean my fingers up while DH tried to find her. She was under the bed. When we finally got her out from under the bed, I was able to calm her down and feel her back legs and noticed blood on the couch. Off to the emergency vet we went (this was around 10:00 p.m., BTW).
Luckily, she only broke her nail (pretty bad - they had to keep her in
back until the bleeding stopped), and she sprained her back foot/leg.
They said nothing felt broken, though, so no x-rays were done. We have to keep an eye on her for the rest of the week to make sure she doesn't start showing any strange symptoms, since cats are good at hiding injuries at first.
Anyway, once we got home, we cleaned up the mess in our living room, put the cat crates away, and then got ready for bed. I re-dressed my fingers, and then went to bed around midnight. Next thing I knew, LO was kicking me at 4:00 a.m. and I also had to pee, so I got up. When I went back to bed, I just couldn't sleep. Between the hot humid house and DH's snoring in my ear, things just weren't working in my favor. Finally, at 5:00 a.m., I could hear Daisy squeaking (she has more of a squeak than a meow) in the living room, so I got up and hung out with her for a while. I tried going back to sleep around 5:30 a.m., but I was wide awake until my alarm went off. So basically I'm working off of four hours of sleep.
I told my boss about our chaotic night, and that I am also working off of four hours of sleep, and she said that if I needed to go home this afternoon that I could. She also said in a bright cheery tone that at least this drama from last night will help prepare us for having kids! Ah, so nice to have a good boss with a sense of humor.
Re: NBR: Rough Night (Cat Related, Kinda Lengthy)
Expecting our first, baby BOY, 12/12/13
Over the years I've had to make a couple of trips to the emergency clinic with my fur-babies and its rough. Between the worry about them and the obscene amount of money spent, it makes for a *very* long night.
Get done what you need to get done at work, leave a bit early, and go home. Cuddle with your cat and take a disco nap.

Call your OB ASAP about the cat bite. Infections can get into your tissues without you seeing any outward signs of infection. Better safe than sorry.

As for my fingers, I called my OB's office, and they said as long as Daisy is up to date on her vaccinations, we should be fine. I am still keeping an extra eye on the fingers, though, because I tend to get infections, anyway.
I hope you ladies have a good week!
