Babies: 3 - 6 Months

rolling over in sleep

I'm sure this has been brought up before but what do you do when your lo rolls onto their belly during sleep? Last night Chase woke up screaming after 3 hours of sleep because he rolled over then 5 hours later I checked and he was fast asleep on his belly. I rolled him onto his back which promptly woke him up. Should I just let him be? I know the risk of sids greatly diminishes when they can roll but it still scares the crap out of me. My friend last a son to sids at 8 months old!

My lo can roll over and prefers to sleep on her belly, it scares me to death, but they say if they can get there themselves then its ok. I bought a snuza so I can sleep a little better and not worry so much. Totally worth the 100 bucks! I still wake up a couple times a night to make sure she has her head turned and breathing ok though.

  • Ive been told as long as they do it themselves that it is okay for them to sleep on their tummy. My LO starting rolling over at 3.5 months and started sleeping on her tummy after that. The first few times I saw it I freaked out, even now (She is 5.5 months) I still check on her a few times at night just to makes sure she is still breathing. Pretty sure I will be doing this for a while. It is tough when they first start rolling because it wakes them up and they have issues rolling back over. Give him time and he will probably get more comfortable with rolling and it wont effect his sleep as much. Good luck!!

  • LO started rolling at 14.5 weeks and has now decided to sleep on her belly. We out her down on her back but always find her on her belly with her butt up in the air.
