Back is Best

My LO is 4 months old and this weekend I've been trying to ween him off of being swaddled. I started out with naps since I'm not ready to try during the night. I place him on his back in his crib and when I go to check on him, he's rolled over onto his stomach. I'm torn between what to do. Do I leave him on his stomach or try and roll him over onto his back with waking him....? Any of your LO's start off on their backs and roll onto their stomachs?

Re: Back is Best

  • Yep. Little man does this all the time. His ped said if he rolls over himself then do not wake him to flip him back over. Just do everything else possible to prevent SIDS. Firm mattress, no crib bumpers and no blankets or soft toys in his crib.

  • My daughter sleeps on her belly at night now.  I always put her down on her back but she's on her stomach within minutes.  There's no stopping it and it's just how she's comfy.  I think if they can get there by themselves, then it's fine.
