They offered HPV vaccinations when my daughter was in Grade 9 and I had her get the two shots, no question. I'm a total advocate for vaccinations of all kinds. HPV aside, though, I think the biggest problem is that younger generations are too far removed from seeing the horrible devastation that the diseases we now vaccinate for can cause. None of us has lived when these horrific diseases ran rampant. My mom had a friend with polio who lived in an iron lung for much of her youth and came out with quite terrible disfigurement and in a wheelchair for life. Her mom (my grandma) watched two of her very young siblings die from whooping cough back in the day. Go back even just a century in any family tree and you can see the trail of children who were lost to horrible diseases we can now prevent through immunization. Choosing not to vaccinate doesn't just affect that child, it's a societal harm and it's others' infants who are too young to be immunized who so often pay the price for that negligent decision. Personally, I think Andrew Wakefield (the guy whose now-retracted and discredited study of only 12 children linking autism to vaccinations started the non-vaccination craze) should be tried for crimes against humanity.

This one drives me crazy, the fact that people still believe that vaccinations cause autism even though this study was discredited.

I agree. I have very little trouble with government intervention and whatnot and, to take it one step further, I think that people are all worked up for nothing about the whole NSA phone tapping deal. If you have nothing nefarious to hide, they are probably not listening to you anyhow.

I agree. I don't understand the people that support that Snowden kid for giving up secrets. What he did was illegal and he is a traitor.
