Screw the snoogle- I got DH a snore mouth guard thing!

My sleeping issues have little to do w/ pregnancy. It's DH snoring that's keeping me up. He finally agreed to try a mouth guard thing- and we researched a ton of them. This thing was $100+ so it damn well better work. It just shipped yesterday so I'm desperately waiting for it to arrive! I'm betting it won't show up till next week or something crazy. That's just my luck.

  • tell me how it goes!!! DH has sleep apnea and will stop breathing and then take HUGE gasps of air and snore all night. he should have a c-PAC (sp?) machine but since he has to go to the VA to get it, he hasn't... in 4 years. every night I get sooo angry! and why should I have to go to the other bedroom?!
sorry I hijacked your post haha

And yes, one of us has been sleeping on the couch almost every night! It's crazy. We just bought this awesome tempurpedic mattress and can't even both enjoy it at the same time.

  • Omg this is my life!!!! DH has sleep apnea and first and foremost needs his tonsils removed because they rest on the back on his tongue!! He FINALLY made a doctors appointment but I know he needs a sleep study. I wake him up 10 times a night and tell him to roll over. I feel your pain, both of you!!
  • Whoa, I would LOVE to know if that works well. DH keeps me up almost every night with his snoring, and I'm sooo tired of it.

  • I'll post a review after he's used it for a while. If this doesn't work, I'm sending him for a sleep study.  His snoring is relatively new- in the last year or two.  He's gained a little weight but not enough that I think that's the cause so I'm also wondering about tonsils/adenoids b/c he's also complaining about sinus drainage a lot too.  One way or another, we have to get to the bottom of it.  Oh and he always reminds me that I snore during the 3rd tri too so I shouldn't complain.  Ummm yeah, well, if he had a 10 lb turkey laying on his lungs, I might be more understanding...

  • I purchase a mouthguard thing for my husband called ZQuiet after seeing an infomercial.  It worked great for a few months, but husband complained at first that it moved his bottom teeth a bit and made his jaw sore.  It works by keeping the bottom jaw forward. Eventually, as it became more comfortable and stretched out for him, the ZQuiet stopped being effective and would even pop out of his mouth at night.  He wanted a similar mouthguard that has your own tooth mold, so he went to his dentist - who refused to take the mold and told him instead to get a sleep study.  He hasn't gone yet....
  • PS.  The ZQuiet did work in the first few months before it stretched out and my husband did feel that he slept better.
  • Yes please do tell if it works! My hubby snores terribly. He lost about 50lbs a year ago and the snoring stopped, but then he gained it back and is snoring just as bad. Booooo

This was the other one we considered but DH didn't like the idea of it pushing his jaw forward- he thinks this one will be more comfortable. I've also heard to ask your dentist so that may be our next step.
