What to do before baby?

The other day my mom suggested that I think of some things I want to do without a baby and without needing a sitter and do them in the next 13 weeks.

Hmmm... So far I've come up with going to the movies and maybe a concert at a dive bar downtown.

What's on you pre-baby bucket list?

    This is my second.

But with our first, we ent to the movies, hung out late with friends, and went out to dinner.

I think I miss movies the most. It's hard to justify the expense now.

We did ours last year and went on a Mediterranean cruise.  Knew if we didn't do it then it would be a long time before we'd be able to do it again.

Haircut. I NEED a haircut. And an optometrist appointment. We have a weekend camping trip tentatively scheduled for the weekend after Labor Day, but I am having some serious doubts whether I really want to do that.

Have you told your optometrist you are pregnant?  Many wont do appts if you are pregnant because your prescription may change while you are pregnant.

I plan on giving myself a "spa day" for my birthday which is November 8th (yes I give myself a birthday present lol). Mani/pedi, prenatal massage, a haircut and color. Other than that, DH and I just plan on going on as many date nights as possible.

We wanted to go to Vegas but got pregnant before that could happen and then didn't want to spend the $$$ to fly across the country. So instead we saw a bunch of shows near us! Book of Mormon, Penn & Teller, Wicked, and Nick Offerman (Ron Swanson from Parks & Rec) Fun times :)

This is me too! I haven't cut my hair in almost a year. It is getting horrid. Guess I shall add that to my to do list. Maybe I'll make a day of it and get my toes done too!

Mine was fine with it but said she wouldn't make any major changes if they were needed, they were not. However she did a yearly exam and gave me some contacts. I imagine if there is a drastic change you'd want to get in to make sure you could see for the rest of your pregnancy but probably shouldn't invest in $1000 glasses right now ;)

    Sleep!
THIS!  The first few months are the worst and you will feel like a zombie.  I actually left the house to go to work one day with poop on my shirt.  Thankfully my nanny caught it and gave me another shirt to wear.

I'd say get your hair done a week or two before your due date and treat yourself to a few pedis between now and then.  Also any shopping (holiday or otherwise) that you can get out of the way now would be a good idea.

Oh and enjoy taking a bath and going to the bathroom alone.

I wanted to take one last vacation, but unfortunately our finances didn't allow for that this year with everything else we had to pay for. I told DH that at this point, all I really want is one last date out with him at one of our favorite restaurants.

A lot more date nights, a few more pedis (it's getting difficult to paint my own toes now anyway!), and get my hair done.

I'm soaking up being able to go out to eat or to the movies with my husband right now because I know that will be few and far between once the baby comes.

AAAAAAAH!  Holy crap.  Call me crazy, but with all the baby stuff coming up I *COMPLETELY* forgot about Christmas prep and how hectic THAT will be after LO has arrived.  I'd better get going on early shopping and decorating ideas!  yikes!  Haven't even thought about LO's Christening yet.  sigh...adding more to the long, long "to do "list.
Everyone's getting AMEX or Amazon gift cards and they'll LIKE IT! I feel like we get a pass on "thoughtful" for this year given LO's due date.

Sex, sex, and more sex! I'm pretty confident "quality time" will be hard to come by after LO is here. If only I had the energy and desire to have sex these days... ::mobile sigh::
This.  Plus I bled for about a month + after giving birth.  After that I was afraid to have sex (3rd degree tear).  We didn't have sex until about 6 months PP.

Along the lines with stuff going on down there, pray that you poop while pushing, I promise you, your first PP poop will be very scary if you have stitches and rhoids.

This is sad, I'm sitting here trying to think of SOMETHING and just can't. We went out of town for a mini vacation this weekend while at a wedding and I realized how much I hate travel... so anything we do before baby comes will be in the area. Like, movies and date nights. But I don't see that happening.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm with you on this one.  I can't really think of anything.  DH and I have been together for a while in the scheme of things (7 years) and have been fortunate to do a lot of stuff together.  I'm sure the dynamic will be different and there will be things I miss being able to do as freely though!

Good question!  I haven't thought about it in those terms, but we are trying to go to as many outdoor movies or shows as we can (but we usually do during the summer).  Oh, and we squeezed in a hiking trip with friends to the Sierras in June.

I'd absolutely love to get a pedicure before baby comes.

I love reading everyone's ideas. I've been really lucky and gotten to travel a lot in my life. I was hoping for one last big trip but finances wouldn't allow it. That sort of thing I'm fine with planning in a few years. However I won't be willing to pay for a sitter for pedicures or a movie, so I've been getting pedis every month! I have a hair appointment set for the day of my shower, then I'll get on right before EDD. I think sleep is really the thing I'll miss the most :(

I went camping two weekends ago at 25 weeks pregnant. In many ways it's was a great weekend away with my husband and family. What I did not appreciate was the limited capacity of my bladder and the numerous hikes to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Of course we were tent camping. After that I decided no more camping while pregnant.

It would be different if we were trailer camping and had a bathroom with us.

I was going to say this!

I miss alone time in general. I do even leave the door open when I use the bathroom otherwise I will end up with a toddler crying and banging on the door, even if my DH is at home.

I also miss movies. I believe DH and I have been to two movies in the last two years, it is just so much easier to rent and stay home.

The thing I miss the most is sleeping in. I knew I would be sleep deprived at first, but didn't realize that I wouldn't be able to sleep in for years. My DH and I end up taking turns on the weekends, but it isn't the same. We still end up waking up when DD gets up and I never seem to go back to a deep sleep.

I will miss long walks with my dogs. I typically like to take them for at least a mile walk through the neighborhood at night, but that won't be happening with a newborn in the winter.

I would also second sleep, long showers, and more sleep!

This. I have a dental cleaning in September, mani/pedi this weekend (plus a few more before LO arrives), and I have been buying Xmas gifts for a month now. I even managed to wrap a couple yesterday with DS. We are kind of doing things backwards and are laying low until next fall when we go to Europe to visit my BFF. We just bought a new 3 row Nissan Pathfinder, and Pre-K this year is $800/month (ouch!), so our expenses are high at the moment.

I would make plans with friends. This is my second, but with our first, I tried to catch up with as many friends as possible beforehand, but wish I had done more. I work part-time and commute into the city. Most of my friends are single/child-free and live in the city, so after LO arrived, it was really hard for me to justify time away from him (especially since I nursed and pumped) and hard to justify spending money on dinner and drinks, and just hard to coordinate! My husband and I see plenty of each other and eat/make dinner together everyday, so while date nights might be nice, I would push for friend nights before baby.

I want to get my car professionally cleaned. It always seemed like a waste of money before since DD and my Lab get it pretty messy but I want it celaned up before I put another car seat in it.
