I'm sure this has been done before, but who cares? Coffee consumption habit poll (espresso drinks count as "coffee")

Re: Coffee?

  • I usally have one cup in the morning, although this morning I had a large from Dunkins.  The weekends however I have no limit.
  • Loading the player...
  • On a side note to this coffee poll...

I heard on the radio last week a study was done and it showed those who drank something like 27 cups of coffee a week were Xamount more likely to have ___. (I forget exactly, I think it was 27 cups of coffee 23% more likely for heart attack or something like that!)
Anyway, just made me wonder who was drinking almost 4 cups a day!?
  • A cup every morning. I'm old an unable to have coffee past a certain time or I'll have issues sleeping.

Well, I assumed 1 "cup" was like 8 oz of coffee. My cups are usually between 12 and 16 oz.

I am one of those weird people, I have coffee once in a while. What I really like are lattes and cappuccinos but controlling calories means I've had to cut out all indulgences.

Except of course beer, because that would just take away all reason to live.
It's insane how many calories are hiding in a latte without even adding sugar.

But it's from milk, so it's "healthy" right? :P

I probably drink about the same. Well, my coffee cup/container is that big but half of it is creamer...

According to my calculations you're still at "14 cups" that's still almost half of what some drink. LD, you're in the clear for whatever poll I heard about on the radio. You should feel healthy.

You can get a nonfat latte and it still counts as a serving of dairy.

A grande nonfat latte at Sbux is 130 calories.

  • I drink coffee few times during the week. Only at work in the mornings.  None on the weekend. Don't ask me why..... I'm strange like that. I need wine to "parent"... screw coffee!

  • I voted for "some sort of weird moderate habit" bc I'll usually have 2 cups in the morning and 1 or 2 in the afternoon around the 2-3pm slump time, give or take.

I was going to pick that one, but when comparing my coffee habit to that of MH's...its moderate compared to his 5-6 cups a day!

But ehh..I'll take it. I love me some coffee. :-)

  • My day starts and ends with coffee. I usually have 3 cups or so in the morning, an iced coffee before dinner, and then I make a half pot once the kids are down. Don't judge! ;)

Carbonation is bad for you? @andrea99
I wouldn't say it's "bad for you."  It's not like carbonation is gonna give you cancer.  But it makes you bloated (I don't need any help in that department, thank you kindly) and it has been shown that it could worsen cellulite.  Not sure if that part's legit, but the bloating thing is enough for me.

There were some sketchy studies not long ago that tried to link carbonation to osteoporosis, but I don't think that really went anywhere.

I had osteoporosis is high school (long story), and my doc said it was the brown dye or whatever in soda that weakened the bones. I love my morning cup of coffee. It is an old friend that provides me comfort and joy. Then sometimes, I'll drink more in the afternoon but not everyday.

Who was the comedian that talked about how you can't UNsweeten something. Unsweet = NORMAL tea. Sweet tea = sugary tea lol.
Except in some places, sugary is normal apparently.

Anywhere in the "South."  People in my town think they're in the Deep South.  Motherfucker, you are in southeast Missouri.  Get over yourself and lighten up on the sugar in my tea.
"Oddly" enough, the Obesity Belt correlates pretty strongly with areas where sweet tea is popular...

I chose SS - Before I got preggers, I drank at least 3 cups of coffee every morning I worked.  Now, I don't drink any caffeine.  I do have some decaf coffee I drink once in a while and also decaf hot tea.

  • I drink at least two cans' worth of Coke every day. It's pretty bad.

But unsweetened tea or fatty tea?

I love that you called it fatty tea. I live in VA, where all tea is sweet, all the time. My bsc mil makes her sweet tea with like, 2 cups of Splenda. Because that's super healthy too, right?

I like sweet tea, but not so sweet that I can't taste the tea part anymore. Lemon is required.
