So, at DS1's 12 month appointment he got his routine vaccines and one must have been the chicken pox
vaccine as the ped said it's possible that in a month he may get 1 or 2
chicken pox..
Fast forward just over a month (aka last
night/today).. last night DH and I (and the kids) had gone shopping at
an outdoor plaza, so the boys were in their strollers. When we got
home, and I was feeding DS1 dinner, he was super tired and rubbing at
his eyes.. I noticed his one eyelid was red and puffy, but I thought it
was just from him being tired and I saw what i thought was a bug bite on
his wrist. No biggie.
Wake up today, he's got 10 of these
"bite" looking marks.. I thought, crap, a mosquito must have been in the
stroller last night.. his poor eyelid is very swollen, along with 4
other "bites" on his face and then 5 on his left arm/hand/wrist/elbow. I
gave him some benadrly, no change.. then, I took him out with me to go
get DS2 formula, and I noticed in the sunlight that these "bites" all
seem to have little tiny heads on them.. they look like pimples almost?
Does this sound like chicken pox? I called the ped and am waiting for
them to call back (mostly because DS2 is so young and I worry about him getting them -- but, the nurse seemed
surprised by DS1 having 10 of them -- she said usually you only get 1 or
2 and so she wanted to talk with the doctor).. anyway, I'm still trying to figure out if they are definitely
chicken pox or if they are mosquito bites! I'll post a few pictures and
you ladies can tell me what you think.. (disregard his scummy face -- I
had to give him a cookie to cooperate with pictures, and in turn, he
dropped cookies crumbs in his eyes and nose lol)...

What do you guys think? It's hard to capture the "head" that I can see on them in person.. but, they are definitely puffy and swollen.. now, we know that DS is very sensitive to mosquito bites, too, as whenever he's gotten a bit it swell horribly.. I just can't decide if it looks like a mosquito bit him 10 times, or if they're chicken pox.. but, the only reason why I'm leaning towards chicken pox is because the one on his lower lip (you can see it in the pic of him crying), just appeared a few hours ago.. that wasn't there this morning.. idk.

Re: Chicken pox?
Yea, this is what I'm thinking.. It was my initial thought too until I noticed they all have little heads on them.. We shall see what the morning brings!! I know he has awful reactions to Mosquitos, actually talked to the ped about this before, but she said no bug spray for him yet.. I typically use skin so soft but it doesn't do a great job. He didn't have any on yesterday as weweregoing. In and out of stores so I didn't think it would be an issue.. And it was like 4p too so not dusk like you'd expect bugs to be bad.. Coulda been one in the car, or maybe his room? Idk. Poor kid!!
Both I and my DH had chicken pox, and based on my memory and pictures of us both at the time, I don't think it looks like chicken pox. And I still have bad reactions to bug bites, so I'm more inclined to believe the bug bites theory - only because I would get a whole swarm on me at at time. Your DS and me must just have some sweet blood
FX that it's just bites, or a small rash and clears up soon! You deserve a vacation after the last month you have had!
