the name Maeve

in Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Lately I've seen the name Maeve....if it's pronounced how I think it is, I think I like it!  PS- I am not pregnant, I am just a loser and keep a word document on my desktop to document names I hear that I like for baby number two:)

Is it pronounced like May-vee, or, like the color Mauve?  Mave? (rhymes with shave)....pardon, I don't know how to do phonetic spellings the correct way, lol.

    FYI -  Apologies, I forgot there was a Baby Name board before I posted this, so I posted it there too.  But if anyone has input from this board I'd still be curious!

    Rhymes with shave. My cousin in law is a Maeve, and she's gorgeous and dating the dude who played McLovin in Superbad. It's a cool name. I think it would be good for a cat or car too.

    My best friend is a Maeve, pronounced like shave.  She's fabulous.  Maeve was the queen of the faeries in Irish folk lore.

    Traditionally pronounced to rime with shave as other's have said. It was one on the list when we went into the hospital with our daughter (she came out a Rowan).

    My dd's name is Mavis, after my grandmother. Kind of a variation. Mavis is French and Maeve is Irish, I believe.
