April 2014 Moms

Just for fun...If you could pick...

The months your children were born in, which ones would you pick? Any specific reasons why that/those month/months?

I told DH I didn't want spend the last 2 months of any of my pregnancies in the middle of the summer, so we kind of planned for winter or spring babies.

We had DD in December, the day after my deceased grandfathers birthday, and now here I am on the April board!

Also, I think a December birthstone and April birthstone will make a really pretty mother's ring or necklace just in time for Mother's Day next year. ;)

  • I'm pretty happy with April! Not too cold, not too hot. Might be in a bathing suit shape by 4th of July!

the diamond birthstone is a bonus too! DD has an August birthday and we love it as far as parties go. I see many Backyard BBQ birthdays in her future :)

  • DS was born in mid-July and I liked being off for the summer! I'm excited about a potential for late April, again for weather reasons! Another good time would be October, I'd like being off for the holidays.

  • I wanted a Spring or Summer baby this time around. :-)

DS is a November baby(born 2 days before Thanksgiving) & it makes for an even busier holiday season.

  • I wanted to plan our next baby to be a September baby since most of my other children are spring./summer babies and birthday season runs long and expensive in this house. My last baby, Asher was a January baby born during RSV season and he almost died from it, so I was sure I didn't want another winter baby. I'm happy with April, it's a pretty time of the year to welcome a new little one!

@AndieD6709 I understand the month of May thing! My dad and 2 little sisters are all in May, plus Mothers Day. We have something every week in May. My mom and I are both August babies. So we wanted to avoid those 2 months entirely.

Do you catch a lot of crap about having your girls so close to Xmas? DD is also 4 days before Xmas and everyone tells me we should have skipped December because its so unfair to her. I've actually had a few people be down right rude about it.

Plus, we start seeing 90-100 degree weather in May and it doesn't normally end until September. We don't even see our first freeze until November a lot of the time. I am really hot natured and think anything above 65 degrees is too hot.

  • My ideal months were anything from March to August, so I'm pretty happy with April.

My DS was an October baby and I did not like that very much. We were trapped inside a lot during maternity leave and I didn't like that DS had to be exposed to the winter influx of sickness (colds/flues) so early in his life.

  • My DD was born in October. I like that a lot. Things are starting to feel festive and fall is my favorite time of year. This one is due in April, which also usually has decent weather. My family also has a history of October and April birthdays so that makes things special too.

  • April or may are perfect for me I love the spring :)
  • I'm pretty stoked with April.  It will be nice to be cozy and big during the winter and deliver just as it's getting warm.  Living in AZ I definitely don't want to be  2nd-3rd trimester during the summer.  It's still hot right now but doesn't really affect me at the moment other than my restless nights.  I have been turning the AC down just a few degrees, not that it really helps my restlessness but at least I'm not sweating buckets like the first few weeks.  I'm a June baby and always disliked having my birthdays in the summer, seems like I missed out on the classroom parties.  In retrospect, I always had great slumber or pool parties!
  • I've had a summer baby and a winter baby, so I'm looking forward to a spring baby.  I really loved being pregnant in the summer, though.  I'm not looking forward to wearing maternity clothes all winter.

  • June or May.  I was due in May for my first and had a June baby.  I really liked it and DH's birthday and mine are in June.  I always thought it would be fun for all of us to be in June.  February (my last baby) was not planned at all.  I didn't want a Winter baby.  April seems pretty good timing though.  My dad is an accountant, so I'm hoping this baby comes late like all my others so we can miss or hit the very end of tax season, so my dad doesn't always feel stressed at birthday parties.
  • Really wanted a September baby so it could share it's birthday month with DH and I. :)

I'm really starting to like April though! The only downside to my due date is that it is 3 days away from my niece's 1st birthday.

  • I wanted a baby between April and July so happy what we have. I was born in may and love it's half way to Christmas more or less :) x
  • October, although I'm sure getting big in August & Sept would be miserable in TX.

DH, DD, and I all have February birthdays so I am very glad this one wont be in Feb. I'm pretty happy w/ April!

  • My only niece and nephews all three have birthdays in the same week in October. I am very happy to be very far away from October!

  • DD was the first grand baby for both sides so none of the family say anything about it, it's just everyone else. Our friends and just people in the community. We live in an extremely small town.

DD's birthday will be done the same as if it weren't the same week as Xmas.

  • I was happy with either spring or fall.  I was slightly hoping for May-June though since we already have so much happening mid March to end of April.  Plus this babe could hit so many family bdays including my own which I'm not a fan of lol. (Selfish I know, but with our wedding anniversary being on Mar 14 & my Bday on Mar 30 it gets expensive and I don't want my Bday to be forgot about)

  • My DD was born in October (I was actually due in November but she decided to surprise us early). I absolutely love her birthday month and all the Fall activities we can do to celebrate! We wanted #2 to have his/her own birthday season (aka spotlight) and we discussed April for my late FIL's birthday who passed away last December. Didn't think it would happen right away but it did! My EDD is 4/24 and his bday was on 4/21. So close! Now DH is hoping for a boy so he can have his grandpa's name too. We shall see. Someone is obviously watching over us in heaven :)
  • I like an April baby. I am an August girl myself (bday today woop woop) for the sake buying maternity clothes it would have been nice to be pregnant in the summer.. I live in maxi dresses that would have had plenty of room! I feel like we'll be buying lots of clothes because of winter!

  • DS was born 3 days before Thanksgiving, 2 days after opening day of gun season in WI. It was not ideal but we take was God gives us. Trying to plan his bday parties is awful. I also wouldn't want another winter baby. WI winters are COLD! If we have a third I would like a September or October baby. June would be ok too so I could have off for most of the summer. Now we'll have an April baby, my bday is May, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, and DH's bday at the end of June. April - June will be busy.

  • I really wanted March but it didn't work out that way. :)
  • I jut didn't wanna hit any major holidays so they could have their own day. I'd prefer march since I get spring break and would get an extra week paid maternity leave but I'm ok with April.
As for the diamond birthstone @bsinno, I'm an April bday and feel like I kinda got gipped (sp?) because every lady gets diamonds but other birthstone months also get other birthstones. I really like rubies and emeralds but I always get white diamonds ( not complaining per say just saying I wish I could get some other stones sometimes. )

  • My ideal birth months would have been April or May so I'm thrilled. I agree with @snmetz7  that the birthstone kind of sucks though. Mine is sapphire and I love it and everyone does seem to get diamonds regardless of birthstone but at least its pretty :)

  • I wanted to stay away from holidays. They are already special. I was think spring/early summer for bbqs and pool parties. We live in Southern California and its awesome weather in the spring!
  • April. I'm a teacher and my maternity leave will roll right into summer. So this will be perfect!

  • If I could pick, as crazy as it may sound I'd say at least one in August that way between all our family members we'd have a birthday every month.
  • Very happy with April! Hubby and I are both May babies and since he is a football coach, I hope I don't ever have a baby between August and December. First trimester during football preseason is brutal too...He keeps talking about how tired he is...but at least I don't have to cook for him!

  • I love that I'm delivering in April. I had my daughter in August, it was so hot I felt as if I had menopause.
  • My first was born in April and it is a good time of year to have a baby. The weather is mild and you can enjoy the summer still. Also you have got to love the birthstone!

I have a March baby and now an April baby. My son's birthday fell a week after Spring break so I took off until end off August, will do the same with this baby. This school year will fly by. Well played!

  • My son was born Aug 25th (he'll be a year on Sunday, eek!). It wasn't fun being hugely pregnant through the hottest months of summer with no air conditioning. I like April because we'll give birth before it gets hot and now when it is hot, we're barely even pregnant. Win win. Although I wasn't pregnant for my Oct birthday last time, and this time I will be. No celebrating with alcohol I guess!

  • Although I will miss my maxi dresses. I pretty much lived in them last time and they were awesome! Cute and comfy.

  • I'm looking forward to April! Our other two are January (which was rough) and September. September was awesome and I think April is a nice time of the year too :)

  • We wanted February, March or April babies so maternity leave could butt up to my summer break since I am a teacher. We have a horrible December with Christmas and 4 family birthdays so I wanted to stay FAR away from that month. May is also crazy in our family.

I ended up with 2 April babies with beautiful diamond birthstones and I tease my husband all the time about how he should know EXACTLY what to get me for Mother's Day! ;)

  • I am happy with April, I was really hoping for late April or early May. I'm a teacher and if my EDD of 4/4/14 is accurate I won't have enough time to carry me into summer vacation. Fx for zero snow days, too!!

  • I wouldn't mind June/July so I would have all summer not working. Or September, it would be nice to be in the cool fall weather.
