Oh and a fairly new one for me, drowning in my car. A couple of years ago a woman and her child drove in to a canal in the winter, and could not get out of the vehicle and they both drowned. Ever since then I hate driving beside rivers and stuff without my windows down, just in case.
There are a lot of good spider gifs...but I will respect your fears and, instead, gif spider kitteh...
It's crazy, but my mom has an irrational fear of cats. Not tigers and other big cats. Just average house cats. @SandSunBliss, if I showed her your spider cat gif it would give her nightmares for months.
Walking to my car in a dark parking lot. I am terrified of the potential psycho killer hiding under my car just waiting to grab my ankles!
Oooh, I have a fear of someone CUTTING my ankles, so I bend down and look under my car and the one next to me from a safe distance before I approach it. :-SS
I'm late to this party but I'd like to contribute!
1) Spiders! I agree with PPs about spiders. I have a totally irrational fear of them!
This PIP I don't mind...
(Can you name the book that this spider is from?!)
When I see them in my house though, I'm all:
2) Open doors! Specifically in our bedroom. We have 3 closet doors and 1 bathroom door that must be closed when I either shower or go to bed. When I was little I always wanted my bedroom door opened a bit but then I realized that someone can sneak it and I wouldn't hear them!
3) Lights & Home alone! I agree with PPs about these too!

I have a thing with doors being closed when I go to sleep to. Bedroom and closet MUST be closed. I will get out of bed to close the closet door is it's not totally closed.
Bathroom has to be open though b/c I get up to pee in the middle of the night a lot, and I've been known to walk right into it if it's not open. ">

My only logical one is tornadoes. After experiencing several, even just noticing that the weather is favorable for them gives me a good amount of anxiety.
I'm mobile and my phone was being slow so the gifs were in slow motion and it was super cool!!!
I'm stupidly scared of the dark. I used to sleep with a radio or tv on until I met my hubby and he bluntly told me that I was ridiculous and this was not happening lol. I still need it when I travel for work every so often.

Coyotes and getting lost in outer space. I live in the suburbs and am a psychologist not an astronaut.
In my defense we had coyotes in our woods when I was little. No explanation for outer space other than my belief that NASA is a huge waste of money.
I worked for NASA for 5 years right out of high school and during my undergrad. I am not an aeronautical engineer but NASA was a pretty cool place to work. They do some really amazing research and work with many international partners. My eyes were opened from the experience of working at NASA.
I'm curious @snegde, is it only NASA that you believe is a huge waste of money? Or do you feel the same way about other gov. agencies (such as NSA)?? <- that might be a subject for a different thread some day.

lol! Yep, I sure did. Another fun Ras Fact: in addition to working for NASA, I also worked at a Chinese restaurant for 3 years and worked briefly at an animal hospital.
Getting burned by the iron - I usually keep the ironing board and iron sitting out in my sewing room/spare room, and even when I KNOW the iron has been off for DAYS and isn't currently plugged in, I jump every time I get too close to it. MH thinks he's made up a funny game that he calls, "Is it hot?" where he touches a random thing that could be hot, and it kills me every time he does it to that dang iron.
.... What is this "iron" of which you speak??? :-S @-)
5 cycles of "TTC" - 3 intentional, 2 not so intentional. 5 BFPs. My rainbow arrived 10/15/14. TFMC 08.02.13 at 19+ weeks. Everyday I grieve for my little Olive.
Tapeworms (I will not PIP) is my most feared parasite. I hate them they scare the sh!t out of me. When I was in college and in an advanced invertebrates class we learned about this specific type of tapeworm that if you get it is basically a death sentence (or very close to one without the right doctor). It is called Taenia solium and the medical term for them implanting into the brain is neurocysticercosis. I think they did a Greys Anatomy episode on them once... I will forever fear all tapeworms and I also don't eat pork because of this tapeworm.
Mascots or anyone in full body costumes when it is not Halloween. I go around these people and will usually run away if they start to come near me.
Oh no!!! You could never work with me. I deal w worms, maggots often. Working at an animal hospital you never know what you might come across.
I took an invertebra zoology class learned all kinds of things about insects. Loved it!!!
I just hate bees. I can deal w any other insect, spider, snake!!
