Pain after sex - When to worry?

We aren't having a lot of sex, because I am in no mood at all since getting pregnant. It really sucks. So last night I was feeling a little frisky for the first time in forever, and I let DH know to expect a nice evening, heh. I even read a little erotica while I waited for him to get home to ensure that I'd be, um, all ready. So I was definitely aroused enough, but from the moment we started it really hurt. Luckily, poor DH was deprived enough that he didn't take long or I would have eventually had to stop him.

All last night and into today, my vagina is sore on the inside. I don't think I have an infection or anything, there is no discharge or itching. It's just incredibly sore. This happened last time we did it too, though not as bad.

Is this normal, or should I be worried and call the doctor about it? I hate that pregnancy has so negatively impacted our sex life, ughgh!

Re: Pain after sex - When to worry?

  • That happened to me as well. When I went to the doctor last, he tested me for 12 different things and everything came back normal. I guess its more sensative from all the extra blood flow etc...It made me feel better to get tests done, so maybe you can do that at your next apt?

  • Yeah, I will definitely bring it up. Might just call my OB, as my next appointment is with one of her partners, who is a kindly older man. Ha! I know it's silly, and I have no problem going to him for appointments since he might be the one on call when I'm in labor, but I can't bring myself to tell him about my sore vag after sex. He looks like my dad. :-P

  • I have also had some discomfort during sex recently. we have had to try a few different positions to take pressure off the area. Maybe TMI but the most comfortable so far is him standing at the edge of the bed, me laying on my back with my butt practially hanging off the edge, my body in an L shape with my feet in the air, legs resting against his torso. (sorry no idea what the name of this position is). Just take it slow even if you feel in the mood. I also recommend a ton of lube! Its a girls best friend!!

Literally (to the T) the same exact thing for us... it's been the only thing I'm ok with thus far!
