DS will be starting solids in 4-6 weeks and I want to look for baby food makers. I really like the Beaba BabyCook. Especially because it steams and blends all in one. Anyone have one? Anyone has another one they really like? TIA
I have a Beaba, I used it for my son 2 years ago. I think it's a total waste of money and counter space. You're much better off using a regular steamer basket and a food processor. You can make larger batches and get a silkier purée. Plus the Beaba is useless once LO is no longer eating purées.
Thanks! I was looking for something small so I may check out the baby bullet. I have professional grade food processor and blender (used to work for a well known chef and got them for a great price/gifts) and they are extremely heavy and difficult to pull out of the pantry plus they make giant batches. Plus DH wants to help and he almost lost a finger trying to put the blade in my processor. But that being said I definitely don't need another thing taking up space in my pantry.
I used the Beaba for DD1 and really liked it in the beginning. But it's a short lived appliance. Convenient in the beginning when you're making small batches and because of the all in one steam/puree feature. But eventually I wanted to make more at a time because she was eating a lot more, and half the time I was baking instead of steaming anyway. I think any of the baby-specific food processors will have the same pros and cons though.
We just had to replace our blender and got the Ninja. It came with a regular size and small blender jar, both with double blades. I think it's fantastic! Great price and gives the convenience of making small or large batches.
Thank you! That is a great idea. I'm sad to say my only blender now is actually a margarita machine and I probably need a real one! DH broke the last real one when we moved
I wasn't going to get an exclusive baby food maker (was just going use my blender) but I found a great deal on BabySteals.com (in their archive sales) - It's a 5-in-1 processor/steamer/sterilizer/milk warmer and defroster. It's called the Kaloric and it was only $30 (regularly $80) if I remember correctly. I haven't used it yet, but it seems pretty sturdy and for $30, I thought why not
