So I registered for 2 strollers (the city mini and the graco snap n go-type infant seat carrier) thinking I'd just use the one I received but now I have both!! I'm excited because I know many BDTD moms had suggested to have both. Just wondering when you used one over the other. Is one more practical for some things, while the other is more practical for others? Or- does it make more sense just to store the city mini until LO is old enough to sit in it without the infant carrier? What age would that be? (I don't have the car seat adapter for it yet).
Thanks in advance!
Re: BTDT: 2 strollers
I had the car seat adapter, and used it like a snap and go in the car, and never bought a snap and go. If we were just going for a walk in the neighborhood, I just took the car seat adapter off and used the regular stroller. Especially in the summer, the car seat can be hot!! Anyway, just changing back and forth worked wonderfully for us.
At 3 months, we also got a Maclaren Triumph umbrella stroller, which we used for short outings or anything involving public transit, and mainly used the City Mini like a snap and go or for longer outings.
Then when DS transitioned to a convertible car seat, at around 8 months, we just started leaving the Maclaren in the trunk of the car, and using the City Mini for walks.
We just sold the City Mini and bought a Britax B Ready, since it can be used like a snap and go, and can hold 2 kids. The Maclaren still lives in the trunk and I use it ALL THE TIME!!! DS is 25 months.
I'd honestly recommend getting the car seat adapter for the city mini, and returning the snap and go and getting an umbrella stroller instead. The snap and go is only useful as long as you are using the infant seat, whereas you'll use an umbrella stroller for many years. I know 4 and 5 year olds that still ride in a stroller sometimes, like at museums or theme parks or such. And since the City Mini can act like a snap and go, I don't see the point in having both.
OTOH, when you're done with the snap and go, you can probably sell it then and put the money towards an umbrella stroller...
