Re: Noelle

  • It is a very pretty name. I haven't met a noelle in my life so I don't think it is very common but I do believe it is on the top 100 names. I think Christine is a very good middle name for Noelle, it sounds very pretty together. I don't personally associate Noelle with Christmas so I don't see it as a problem

  • I love Noelle. Just the sound of this name makes me feel all those warm and fuzzy holiday feelings. I think it is fine for a non Christmas baby and I don't know any personally.

  • Noelle is a perfectly fine name, it just doesn't do anything for me. Pretty much anything works with it as a MN. And I think it's fine for a non-Christmas baby.

  • I like it. It was on my short list for our April baby. Catherine is our MN that we would have used.
  • My 11-year-old niece is named Noelle. I love it.
She was born two days after Christmas, but I don't consider it a "Christmas" name.

I'm a Noelle. I like that my name is known but not too overused. I've met a fair share of other Noelles though. I was born around Christmas, but wouldn't think it matters when your baby is born. I never had any nicknames that were really appropriate enough to be taken serious for say a teacher to call me. Some of my friends call me Noey at times. Some people spell is Noel or say it like 'Nole' but never enough for it to be a huge issue. People would often call me Nicole by accident, although I wouldn't think that would be an issue so much with this generation since Nicole isn't super popular anymore. I think the name works well for a child or an adult. My middle name is Marie, although I think lots of names go ok with Noelle.
  • I knew a really nice Noelle in high school. It's great regardless of birth month. Middle name suggestions: Christine (nice one, PP), Renee, Corinne

I like it. It's pretty. I know of just one and she is 14 years old. It doesn't only need to be used for a Christmas baby.

    Noelle Brianne
    Noelle Corrine
    Noelle Renee
    Noelle Marie
    Noelle Christine -- my fave

Eta: so funny... I didn't read pp before typing my reply yet I suggested 3 of the same middle names as she did!

  • I like Noelle Christine--but does it seem to 'holy'? Noelle meaning Christmas and Christine meaning Follower of Christ...

I think unless people look to far into your name choice then it wouldn\t really matter. I didn't know the meaning when i suggested it, it just flowed nicely and sounded really pretty.

  • -WDYT? - Love it. It has been on my long list for a girl for a long time.

-Middle names for it? You've had some great suggestions already. Soooo many MNs go with Noelle.

-Do you know any Noelles? I've known one (my age). She was super spunky and tom boyish. But I could easily use the name and not relate it to her.

-Ok for a non-Christmas baby? Absolutely. It may be even better for a non-Christmas baby. And lots of names have Christmas ties (Natalia, Natasha, Holly, etc). I don't think any of them require a December birthday.

-General thoughts, opinions, impressions, etc? Overall, I just love this name. It's sweet, pretty, underused. I'd love to meet a baby Noelle!

Well, I am Christian so I don't see the "holiness" as a downside. That said, both names are classic/mainstream enough where the name actually doesn't scream "religious" to me.

I'm a Christian too, and don't get me wrong--holiness isn't bad! I was just concerned that people would think it's odd.

    Yeah, I wouldn't worry. :)
  • I think Noelle Christine works nicely and doesn't scream "super religious".  Another post about names in songs made me think of the song "Teenage Dirtbag" which has the name Noelle in it.  Kind of funny!
  • Noelle has been a GP name of mine since middle school. I'm kind of sad that it's getting more popular. DH didn't care for it when I was pregnant (before we knew it was a boy) but I'm still going to put it on my long list for hypothetical baby #2.

  • This is my daughter's mn. I wanted it for her fn, but settled for the mn spot. My dd was born Christmas week, that was part of the reason I picked that name. I don't think being born around Christmas is a prerequisite for using the name. I like Noël and Noelle.
  • I like it a lot and think it works even for a non-Christmas baby. I know one 20 year old with this name.

This.  My daughter has been called Nicole (it is like it is an N thing), and some people spell her name Noel.  And I have also met another mother on a playground who had a daughter named Noel Elizabeth.  She was calling out her daughter's name, and I started up a conversation with her since my daughter's name is Noelle.  But I love it.  And my daughter was born at he end of April.  It reflects my French side on my mother's side.  And my grandmother's father last name was Noel, and he was from France.

  • Knowing the meaning it will seem tied to the holidays to me.but I'm sure it doesn't have to be... I would think they were a holiday baby.
  • I love Noelle. I'd have it as a top contender if we didn't already have a Natalie and if it sounded better with our ln.

I get that all the time too! My name is Nadia yet I get called Natalie (I've adjusted to answering to Natalie since I get called that so much...whoops.), Nicole, Nadine, and even Olivia (???).

  • DD is Noelle Marie.

I (obviously) adore her name. I've got nothing but compliments on it.

People often call her Nicole, but only at first. I do get asked all.the.time. if she is a Christmas baby. Nope- born in March. We did pick her name out at Christmas time though. Here's a pic of my Noelle :)
