Saturday we bought a mattress/pad cover with a waterproof liner underneath (not the one I had researched and registered for because they didn't have it). I brought it home and washed it right away. When I took it out of the dryer the entire liner had melted and shrunk (mind you the rest of the clothes in the dryer were still damp, so it's not like it was in there too long or anything).
The tag says to machine wash warm and tumble dry on low. I washed with warm/cold and used my dryers lowest heat setting stopping it early figuring it wouldn't take as long as the clothes to dry. On closer inspection we realized our dryer has high, medium, and no heat. So my "lowest" heat setting is technically medium. Fluff/no heat would have been basically useless.
Of course DH threw away the receipt. He thinks I should just suck it up
and buy a new one because he doesn't think I should have put it in the
dryer at all. I want to try and return it.
WWYD?
Due September 4th!

Re: Would you try to return this?
Yeah, I definitely want to get a different brand next time. We bought this one at BRU and it is just the store brand. I'm going to try and exchange it. I agree that if it says it can go in the dryer then it shouldn't melt the very first time I do it!
Medium usually means my clothes are still damp after a full cycle, so I thought it was a low setting (it says something like "Easy Care" and then medium heat in tiny print underneath). I feel like if I had dryed them on high it would be my fault, but I used the lowest setting with heat my dryer has. Argh! I should have just hung it to dry!
