Can we talk about Halloween?

I know there was a thread about this a while ago, but now that it is August, I am starting to think of Halloween costumes for LO. Also, DH and I need a couples costume for a party this year. Any ideas for something creative and easy? What about for your LO's- have you found any good websites or ideas?

Re: Can we talk about Halloween?

  • I actually looked at some costumes yesterday and nothing jumped out at me!!!  I'm a little disappointed and I really don't want to have to pick out something!  Last year was a given for us...used a costume that was made 15 years ago and all the kids have worn it..easy!  This year, I have no idea.

  • I got this ridiculously cute magazine is the mail yesterday with a bunch of costumes for LOs in it. They have a website as well, chasing-fireflies.com. Some are pricey, some are reasonable.

  • I'm making R a peacock costume. I much prefer homemade costumes, but I know I'm in the minority. For me part of the fun of halloween has always been thinking about how I could make a costume and piecing together bits of dress up clothes and craft things. I want Ramona to be able to have that too.

  • I'll probably get a costume at Costco when they come out. I'm excited for this year! Last year DH and I got the stomach flu...

  • Well I had an idea for costumes but that may change depending on whether we have SD or not now.  I want to make her a Minnie tutu and let her be Minnie Mouse.  DH wants to go as a baseball player so I found a website to make a baseball costume and thought about this also.  If we have SD she wants to be Daphane from Scooby Doo so I thought about making Caroline Velma but I just can't decide.  I think Minnie will win out no matter though.  I want to make the costume.  I want to make her costumes until she won't let me anymore :)

  • I'm going to make Jackson a gnome costume. Jeans, plaid shirt and boots and then I'll make a beard and a hat. DH and I don't dress up for Halloween. We use to before we had Jackson.

  • I'm not buying a costume. I'm not crafty at all but I think I can improvise a little something.
I think I'll have her coordinate with my 6 year old. So she will probably be a super hero with him. I have several capes and ill make her a super shirt with iron on's.
she may also be Minnie or Mickey.just because she loves them.

I really want Allison to go as Boo from Monsters, Inc. but I think it will be way overdone this year and that makes it expensive to buy.  then I found this and I'm tempted...The mom and dad have jersey names that say Finkle and Marino on the back.

  • Etsy has unique stuff. I got my daughter's costume last year from Etsy. She was an owl :) I loved it!
