Nope. I had a horrible induction last time though, and I feel that babies should come when they are ready (not including medical reasons for induction...just convenience).
Agreed. Though I'm a FTM.

I was induced last time, it almost killed me... Literally! I would never be induced again, my body wasn't ready to deliver and they forced it. I know some people have had great inductions I just wasn't one of them.
No, I would not choose induction. Statistically the chances of needing further interventions increases, so it's not worth it to me at all. I'm a firm believer that unless there is clear and compelling evidence that either my health or the baby's health will suffer unless we get labor started, I would prefer to let baby choose his/her own birthday.
I would never choose induction, but because of medical reasons, that's probably what's going to happen. Definitely not the route I would have chosen, but if it get lo here safe, that's what matters.
My induction with DD1 was medically necessary (my BP spiked) and it was a horrible experience. If given a choice I would never do it again. My body was not at all ready for her to come and every half hour I was threatened with a c section. She was delivered vaginally but it was horrible.
I was induced with my first bc of GD and I am hoping this baby will come on her own. We had a three day ordeal for induction, it didn't help baby was sunny side up and that stalled things for awhile. I don't have GD this time around so I don't have to be induced. However my husband must leave for out of state trips the weekend I am due and the following weekend. This first trip he is 2.5 hrs away and the second is 5.5 hrs away. I'm pretty confident he would make it back on the 2.5 hr trip but not the 5.5. So the plan is to wait and see if she come on her own until due date, and after he gets home from first trip to induce. If it wasn't for the risk of him missing the birth I wouldn't induce again if I didn't have to.
No, if there was no medical reason, I would much rather allow my body to do what it wants to do naturally. And I was induced for medical reasons. L&D were both fine, but I'd still rather allow my body to take its own course.

I'm not pregnant, so just lurking but my opinion is in the minority so I'll share
I had induction with my first at 36 weeks (medical reasons, obviously). My body was no where near ready to go into labor so it was a long day but I did have a successful induction (I was prepared for a c section).
With my second, I opted for an elective induction at 39 weeks, 4 days (my doctor offers then to STM+ after 39 weeks). I was considered favorable and I was comfortable with my decision.
All in all, the day was a breeze. A million times easier than my first induction and I'm glad I choose it. I probably wouldn't have if I wasn't showing any signs of being favorable or if I was a FTM but like I said, I was very comfortable with my choices and had a great experience. What works for one person, might not be right for everyone!
Yes. I held off on an induction with my first, because of all the reasons not to, and it almost cost me my daughter. We had a 39 week induction planned with my second, though she came at 38 weeks, and have a 39 week induction planned with this baby.
My induction was successful in that no CS was needed, but even if an induction would lead to a CS, I'll take that over losing my baby any day.

February 2010: Welcome DD1!

Only if it meant they would finally let me have a VBAC. Which they won't. So I guess it is a moot point.
I don't understand the need to make baby come out sooner than they need to unless there is something wrong. 40 weeks is a guideline. You do not have to evict at 40 weeks on the dot.
I'm currently 6 days past my due date. At this week's appointment my doctor asked if I wanted to be induced and every part of me wanted to scream "YES! Right now! Here!" But, I declined. Contractions with inductions are much stronger and more painful and traumatic, both for you and your baby. Like others have said they are more likely to lead to more interventions and possibly a c-section. My plan is to try to get through the next week and then, when I hit 42 weeks, talk induction if necessary. I feel like at least by that point my cervix will be more favorable to a successful induction and that gives me 8 more days to go into labor on my own. (Oh please let that happen!!! At this point even 8 hours feels like an eternity and 8 days isn't even fathomable.)
Generally...no. Medically recommended? Yes. I'll be induced on Tuesday because I have Cholestasis and the risk of fetal death goes up greatly after 37 weeks, so I guess I could be a moron and "choose" not to have one, but I prefer a healthy baby over a little extra pain in the contraction area.

I was induced but only because many hours past since my water had broken and I still had no contractions.
Shoulder dystocia was an issue and OB recommended (after just delivering DD1) if I was to have another child I would probably need to deliver early because if its an issue with the first, its usually an issue with the second. Apparently it can be a very scary thing. We were very lucky.
Yes, I had a great experience last time, and if it is needed this time around I will again. Although, my body had already started dilating and effacing by 39 weeks and I think that has a lot to do with a better experience.... My SIL was 2 weeks late and her body was not doing a thing! Induction was hard for her, but she got there after a long time.
